The C-BIG Repository

The Neuro's C-BIG Repository is a collection of biospecimen samples, clinical information, imaging, and genetic data from people with neurological disease as well as healthy control subjects. The data and samples are available to researchers around the world, in line with The Neuro's Open Science principles.

EQUIPMENT

The C-BIG Repository offers a wide range of fee-for-services access to equipment and services to the research community. Our team will train you on all the equipment available. The C-BIG Repository will also provide the maintenance and the calibration of all the equipment to ensure a high quality and cost-effective core facility that will facilitate and expedite your research.

Nanodrop 2000 (Thermo Scientific)

Cost: 0.10$/sample

A spectrophotometer (full-spectrum and UV-Vis spectrophotometers) used to quantify and assess purity of DNA, RNA, protein and more!

We offer training, calibration and maintenance of the spectrophotometer.

Guidelines

Before using it, you should have a training (10-15 minutes) with a member of the C- BIG Repository team.

The training will cover:

  • the use of the nanodrop
  • the cleanup before and after use
  • the software

After training, a password will be given to you to access the nanodrop.

Enspire Multimode Plate Reader (Perkin Elmer)

Cost: Free for now

This plate reader is a high performance, compact and configurable instrument designed with filter/quadmonochromator capabilities. It has an intuitive and ‘easy-to-use’ touch screen to reduce assay start-up times and simplify protocols.

For now, the Enspire plate reader is free to use, but in a near future a price will be determined which will allow us to give you more services, i.e. training and maintenance.

Guidelines

For now, please sign the log in sheet available on the reader. Extra sheets are available next to it.

Before using it, you should have a training with a member of the C- BIG Repository team (the complete training will be available soon).

The training will cover:

  • the use of the Enspire
  • the cleanup before and after use
  • the software

  • Storage rentals (freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks)
