Biography: 

Dr. Angela Genge has been the Director of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) clinic at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) since 1998 and the Executive Director of the ALS Global Center of Excellence in Patient Care since 2014.

From 2004 to 2023, she was also the Executive Director of The Neuro鈥檚 Clinical Research Unit (CRU). Under her direction, the CRU grew to become one of the largest neurological clinical research centres in Canada, home to a first-of-its-kind Phase 1 Unit dedicated to neurological diseases.

She is an international leader in clinical trial design and development for rare neurological conditions with an emphasis on ALS and motor neuron disease (MND). She sits on a number of advisory boards as well as data and safety monitoring boards.

Newfoundland-born, Dr. Angela Genge completed her medical degree at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. She obtained her Canadian and American certifications in Internal Medicine and Neurology prior to completing a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at The Neuro, assisting Dr. Gordon Francis, the founder of the Clinical Research Unit.

She is the recipient of the 2018 Forbes Norris Award from the International Alliance for ALS/MND, the YMCA Woman of the Year Award and the Governor General Diamond Jubilee Award among other awards for exceptional patient care and the management of ALS studies.
