If you decide not to attend 平特五不中 Dentistry after you have accepted our offer, you must send a message to our undergrad.dentistry [at] mcgill.ca (Admissions Office) to inform us of your decision.听

Find a place to live

As a dental student, you have two options when it comes to housing:

  1. On Campus Housing (Residences); or
  2. Off Campus Housing which refers to none 平特五不中 properties or privately owned properties.

Apply for financial aid and plan your finances

If you are in need of Financial Aid, the first step would be for you to start with Government Funding. To learn more about scholarships and bursaries, we would strongly recommend that you visit听平特五不中 Scholarship and Student Aid Office听for more guidance or听contact them听directly. 平特五不中 offers one-year entrance scholarships (value: $3000 non-renewable). All applicants to 平特五不中 undergraduate degree programs are automatically considered for a one-year entrance scholarship provided they meet the minimum requirements.

For those applying for Student Aid for next fall, the number of credits you will be completing during your dental preparatory year is 30. (Fall 15 cr. and Winter 15 cr.).

Acquire a laptop for your studies in Dentistry

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences uses web-based courseware and examinations. Students will be required to be equipped with laptops that meet certain minimum requirements (word Chrome or Firefox, as well as an up-to-date antivirus software. Your personal device will also need to be equipped with the following operating system: Windows 7 or later / MAC OS X 10.8 or later as well as a webcam and audio capability. A reliable high-speed internet connection is also required for possible online courses.

Once you have accepted your offer of admission, you will need to set-up your and access your . Email is one of the official means of communication between 平特五不中 and its students.

Send your legal documents

Usually no documents are required if you are coming to 平特五不中 directly from a Quebec C茅gep. After you have registered for courses, be sure to check that your status is correct in Minerva under: Student Menu>>Student Accounts Menu>>View Tuition and Legal Status. Be sure to select your starting term from the drop down menu. If it is not correct, visit this website to determine what to send us.

Complete your immunization and CPR/AED training

IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM

  • You are required to complete a series of immunizations to participate in clinical activities. Depending on the immunizations that you have already received, completing 平特五不中 immunizations may take up to 6-7 months; sometimes more if an appointment with a specialist is required (for positive TST for example) or if you are missing proof of childhood vaccination. The Immunization Requirements for New Students form is found here (see the section 'Vaccine Requirements for Health Care Programs).

  • You can submit your documents as soon as you receive an offer of admission. The review process is done on a rolling basis by the Student Wellness Hub. You are required to submit your immunization documents through the Hub's document submission platform by June 1st of the year in which you will be entering the DMD Program. You are strongly encouraged to submit your documents as soon as possible, in case there are additional immunizations or tests that you require; some vaccination series must be given over a certain time period.

  • All vaccinations listed on the Immunization Requirements for New Students form are compulsory. If you choose to complete your immunizations through your family physician, you must follow the 平特五不中 protocol as 平特五不中 Student Wellness Hub will not accept different immunization protocols.

  • Documents written in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by a certified translation.
CPR/AED CERTIFICATION

You must provide, by July 31st of the year in which you will be entering the DMD Program, proof of certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), level C or C+, and automated external defibrillation (AED) training. Certification must be granted, or fully recognised, by one of the following organisations: the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the , the , St. John Ambulance, the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. Please note that considering the health measures still in place due to the pandemic, we will exceptionally accept the following:

  • online recertification courses for students who have an expired acceptable certification;
  • blended courses (online + in person).

NOTE 鈻 Your certification must be valid for at least the first year of your studies in the DMD Program. Students are responsible for maintaining valid certification for the duration of the program.

Get your 平特五不中 ID Card

Once you have registered to at least one course, you can stop by Service Point to get your ID Card. Your student ID card gives you access to essential services on campus such as the library, labs, cafeterias, etc. For more information: /student-records/personal-information/id.

Participate to events with the Student Ambassadors

We will be offering a virtual or in-person event over the month of July for you to socialize with your new classmates and meet other dental students. Learn to be proficient in French

As indicated on the Dentistry Agreement Form that you signed, you will need to acquire a basic knowledge of French by the time you begin the Clinical Practice courses at the start of the third year of the program. If you are looking to improve your French language skills, here are a few suggested options you can start looking into: /dentistry/programs/language-proficiency听 (under 鈥楶rospective Undergraduate Students Basic Knowledge of French鈥).

Join the 平特五不中 Dentistry French Club (MDFC) to practice conversational French in an informal environment. All levels are welcome to join! The MDFC was started by a group of 平特五不中 Dentistry students who wanted to help their peers in learning French, as well as improving access to dental care in francophone regions. The Club's mission is to create a collaborative and conducive environment and resources for dentistry students to learn and improve their clinical French skills relevant to dentistry. MDFC hosts events and shares resources such as a french lexicon, videos, and handouts relating to clinical French in a dental care setting. A few last steps before the start of the program

Complete the online Academic Integrity Tutorial

平特五不中 places a high value on academic integrity in all facets of study. We advise you to learn more about this subject at the Student Rights and Responsibilities website: . 平特五不中 requires all newly admitted students to complete a short tutorial on academic integrity before the beginning of September. This is accessible under the Student Menu on Minerva.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Failure to complete the Tutorial will result in a registration block for the following term. The block is automatically released the moment the Tutorial is completed in Minerva.

Register for courses

Registration will start on June 5th for Scholarship Recipients and on June 7th for all other students. Ms Patricia Bassett, our Student Affairs Officer, will send you all the information you will need by end of May/early June. Complete the Mandatory Sexual Violence Education Program

All 平特五不中 community members - students, staff, and faculty - are required to complete It Takes All of Us: Creating a Campus Community Free of Sexual Violence, a mandatory online learning program that strives to increase awareness of sexual violence, to ensure that our campus culture is based on respect and consent, and to help create a community free of sexual violence. It consists of five modules that use character-driven scenarios to teach important topics surrounding sexual violence and its impact. All staff, faculty, and students complete the same version of the program.

As part of 平特五不中鈥檚听 and in accordance with ,听it is important for anyone who studies or works at 平特五不中 to have a shared understanding of the key concepts around preventing sexual violence on our campus. Because of the substantial changes made to the program, all members of the 平特五不中 community are required to take this updated version of It Takes All of Us.

The program is hosted on myCourses, 平特五不中鈥檚 online Learning Management System. To access the program, log in to using your 平特五不中 credentials (i.e., your email and password). If you don鈥檛 see the program, make sure you click 鈥淰iew All Courses鈥 and search 鈥淚t Takes All of Us.鈥

IMPORTANT NOTE: The program must be completed by November 17th, 2023. Students who have not completed the program by the applicable deadline will have a hold placed on their account in Minerva, preventing them from registering for their next term; the hold will be removed within 1 business day of completing the program.
