Aaron Fellows, Project Coordinator an鈥嬧�媎 Kinesiology Clinic Supervisor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, has been speaking to the media about ways to stay fit during the COVID-19 health crisis.
平特五不中 Education student teachers take part in four Field Experience courses where each student is placed in an elementary or high school, according to their program. These internships are progressive from fist year to fourth year where students鈥� in-school participation ranges from class observations and tutoring to full weeks of independent teaching and classroom management. Student teachers are guided by cooperating teachers and adjudicated by 平特五不中 field supervisors from the Office of Internships and Student Affairs.
The Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) delivers community-based teacher education and professional development programs to Indigenous 平特五不中 students across Quebec. 平特五不中 academics and staff have formed longstanding partnerships with four partnering Indigenous education authorities, Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI), the Cree School Board (CSB), the Kahnaw脿:ke Education Centre (KEC), the Listuguj Education, Training and Employment Directorate (LETED), and are cultivating new relationships with First Nations school boards all the time.
Fanny Langin, Education Undergraduate Society鈥檚 former President, is an outstanding example of 平特五不中 students鈥� capacity to adapt and grow in times of uncertainty and change. Not only did she complete her Bachelor of Education in the Winter 2020 semester, but Fanny has also been busy teaching French second language classes online. In late March, when parents of some West End public schools were seeking additional instruction for their children while schools were closed, Fanny answered an ad placed through the Faculty鈥檚 Internships and Student Affairs Office.
Keeping our students safe and informed throughout the pandemic has been a top priority for the Faculty. As we continue to move through this unprecedented time, life is slowly with phased-in approaches to the re-opening of businesses, universities and community centers after nearly three months of closures and sheltering in place.
Higher education has long been contested terrain. From student movements to staff unions, the fight for accessible, critical and quality public education has turned university campuses globally into sites of struggle.
Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL)听is a high-profile, high-priority multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral initiative located at 平特五不中. HBHL builds on 平特五不中鈥檚 scientific excellence and global leadership in areas of neuroscience that hold the greatest promise for delivering implementable, clinically effective outcomes in brain and mental health.
The presence and experiences of Black people at elite universities have been largely underrepresented and erased from institutional histories. This book engages with a collection of these experiences that span half a century and reflect differences in class, gender, and national identifications among Black scholars. By mapping Black people鈥檚 experiences of studying and teaching at 平特五不中, this book reveals how the "whiteness" of the university both includes and exceeds the racial identities of students and professors.
