As outlined in the most recent update by the 平特五不中 Emergency Operations Centre, from Saturday, July 27 to Friday, August 2, Libraries in the lower campus area will open as per their regular operating hours, but will close no later than 5:30 p.m. on the weekend and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays.

Generative artificial intelligence promises to transform the way business is done, but in most industries, it鈥檚 still unclear exactly how it will be used. Footwear retailer ALDO is working with Montreal鈥檚 cluster of AI talent to explore how to leverage this emerging technology. In October 2023, ALDO staged its first Retail Gen AI Hackathon in partnership with the Bensadoun School of Retail Management and Amazon Web Services. The event offered over $10,000 in prizes to teams that worked collaboratively to devise generative AI solutions to real world retail challenges.

Fr茅d茅ric Perron (BCom鈥97) was serving as the Chief Commercial Officer for Vodafone Poland when he was asked to return to Canada to become the new president and CEO of Cogeco, an internet service provider. Although Cogeco鈥檚 corporate offices are in Montreal, Perron鈥檚 position is based in Burlington, Ontario. That puts him closer to the company鈥檚 US customers, some of which are in nearby Ohio. Americans make up about half of Cogeco鈥檚 business, and as the US government makes major investments in connectivity, there remains room for growth in the United States.

Funding supports groundbreaking research in the natural sciences and engineering

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded 101 平特五不中 research projects funding from its Discovery Grants competition for a total investment of $23.5 million.

The Discovery Grants support ongoing programs with long-term goals, recognizing the creativity and innovation that are at the heart of all research advances.

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Kennedy has received the 2024 John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence.

Named in honour of the late professor and former dean John W. Durnford (BCL'52), and conferred by students, this annual award recognizes a law professor鈥檚 exceptional pedagogy.

In 2019, while doing post-doctoral research in 平特五不中's Department of Natural Resource Sciences, Qinhong Cai (better known as Tammy) travelled to Nunavut to join the聽, a federal initiative designed to improve marine safety and increase the protection and restoration of coastal and seaway ecosystems. Cai, an environmental engineer, was sent to monitor hydrocarbon contaminants and microbial genomics along the Kivalliq transportation corridor.
