Yolanda Bruno, BMus'11, wins First Prize of the Isabel Overton Bader Canadian Violin Competition
Violinist Yolanda Bruno, BMus'11,聽was awarded the First Prize and the Audience Choice Prize at the inaugural Isabel Overton Bader Canadian Violin Competition, organized by the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts at Queen鈥檚 University. This national competition was open to Canadian violinists from the age of 18 to 29. While studying at the Schulich School of Music, she was a violin student of Jonathan Crow.

Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin to get honorary doctorate

平特五不中 will present Montreal-born conductor Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin with an honorary degree. The University鈥檚 highest honour will be presented to Maestro N茅zet-S茅guin on May 14, at 3 p.m., at the Maison symphonique de Montr茅al, 1600 rue Saint-Urbain.
New book by Steven Huebner explains Verdi's craft
Despite being the most-performed operatic composer in the world, there鈥檚 a surprising lack of studies written on the style of Giuseppe Verdi鈥檚 works 鈥 a problem that Prof. Steven Huebner is addressing head-on. Recently, Huebner put out the first book in any language that offers an in-depth analysis of the composer鈥檚 musical style in the context of his 23 Italian operas, from Aida to Ernani.
