Music Minors:
The Schulich School of Music offers twelve (12) minors in different disciplines where students can acquire training in a specialized music domain. These minors are either open to students in a Bachelor of Music program or students in an undergraduate program from another faculty.
For Bachelor of Music students, courses in the minor can double count as electives in the program. See Electives for more information.
For undergraduate students enrolled in other faculties, please consult with your home faculty advisor to verify if you are permitted to take the minor, and to determine how courses in the music minor can be accounted for your program.
Detailed program description and admission criteria are found in the minor program links listed below:

Minor options from other faculties for B.Mus. students
B.Mus. students are not restricted to taking music minors. They may also pursue a minor offered by another faculty and have the courses in the minor count as electives towards their Bachelor of Music program.
Students may only request to add a minor offered by another faculty as of their second year at 平特五不中. Students should acquire a minimum CGPA of 3.0 before applying for a minor.
Examples of minors offered by other faculties include:
- Management minor for non-management students. Students interested in pursuing a management minor must apply through Desautels Faculty of Management. June 1st is the application deadline to begin the minor in the subsequent fall semester.
- Arts minors. Students need not complete an application form to pursue an arts minor. B.Mus. students who meet the eligibility requirements can email the studentaffairs.music [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Arts%20Minor) (Student Affairs Office) between June 15 and August 15 to have the minor added to their subsequent Fall semester record. We strongly recommend students consult with an Arts Advisor if they have questions about the minor.
- Science minors. Students need not complete an application form to pursue a science minor. B.Mus. students who meet the eligibility requirements can email the studentaffairs.music [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Science%20Minor) (Student Affairs Office) between June 15 and August 15 to have the minor added to their subsequent Fall semester record. B.Mus. students who wish to pursue a science minor along with their music degree, must have the math or science prerequisite course(s) before registering for the science minor. Consult with a Science advisor if you have questions about the science minor. The neuroscience minor and the interdisciplinary life sciences minor are generally restricted to Bachelor of Science students.
