Benjamin Deschamps: R茅v茅lation Radio-Canada

At 29 years old, Montreal alto saxophonist Benjamin Deschamps (B.Mus 2012, M.Mus 2016) has a lot of accomplishments under his belt. In relatively short order, he鈥檚 released two successful records as a bandleader, directed the Montreal All City Big Band, completed various tours in North America, Poland and France, and won the Rimouski Festi Jazz Grand Prix in 2013 with his quartet. Most recently, Radio-Canada presented him as one of the four R茅v茅lations Radio-Canada 2017-2018, where he was recognized for his promising career as an artist.

Schulich School of Music graduates and students shine at the 2017 Prix d'Europe

Many of our students and alumni performed very well at this year's Prix d'Europe competition. 听Felix Hong, BMus'16, ArtDip '17, was听awarded the听2017 Prix d'Europe grand prize听from l'Academie de musique du Qu茅bec. 听The prize has a cash value of $25,000 and has been awarded every year since 1911. 听Felix Hong is a piano student of Professor Ilya Poletaev.

Purdy passes the vocal torch to Smith Bessette

First there鈥檚 the skirl of the pipes, then Winston Purdy鈥檚 rich baritone rolls across the audience as he sings the University anthem, Hail, Alma Mater, to 听mark the beginning of almost every Convocation ceremony since 1999. That musical accompaniment has been a feature of decades of processions of students, faculty and families as they walk into the Convocation tent.

The Milton Quartet wins the Gold Medal & Grand Prize at the 2017 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition.

The Milton String Quartet, composed of Schulich School of Music students Roman Fraser, Maith茅na Gireault, Evan Robinson and听Joshua Morris,听has won the Grand Prize and Senior String Division Gold Medal at the 44th Annual Fischoff Competition at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.听
