Allan Memorial Institute (Ravenscrag).
Note the misspelling on the card "Raavenskrag".
The 鈥淎llan鈥 was constructed in 1863 on the southern slope of Mount Royal for the shipping magnate Sir Hugh Allan. It was named Ravenscrag after a castle in Scotland. It had 72 rooms, including an imposing central tower from which Allan could view his steamships arriving in Montreal鈥檚 harbor. The building was given to the Royal Victoria Hospital by Allan鈥檚 descendants in 1940 to house its Psychiatry Department. Unfortunately, much of the building鈥檚 ornate interior was destroyed during its transformation for this purpose. The building is still being used for outpatient psychiatric service by the 平特五不中 Health Center.
