Limitations
ILL cannot accommodate requests for personal and non-academic use, or requests submitted on behalf of non-ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ clientele. Needs of this nature might be met by your local public library, like Montreal’s Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) .
The mission of the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Libraries is to build and maintain collections of quality, in traditional and digital formats, through the selection and management of library resources required to support the University's programs of teaching, learning and research. We strive for equity, diversityÌýand inclusion materials in our collections.
Copies are supplied in accordance with the Canadian Copyright Act.
Ìý
Loan period
ILL materials are due back 30 days from the date they were checked out to you at ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ. They will be renewed up to 4 times automatically, unless requested back by the lending library.
Ìý
Possible loan restrictions
The lending library may impose restrictions as a condition of the loan, such as in-library consultation, no photocopying, or a shorter loan period.
Ìý
Interlibrary Loan book band or label
Do not remove the Interlibrary Loan book band or label affixed to the cover of the book. This book band or label identifies the book as belonging to another library.
If it is removed, the book becomes difficult to identify as an Interlibrary Loan and may be lost or misshelved with the rest of the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Library collection, and you may incur additional overdue fines.
Ìý
Overdues
It is essential that you return ILL materials on time. You can see the current due date of your ILL loans in the Checkouts tab of .
In order to ensure the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Libraries maintains its good standing with external partner libraries, it is very important that ILL materials be returned by the due date (check ).
Overdue fines are $0.50 per day for ILLs not returned on time.
Overdue ILL materials jeopardize the viability of the ILL service for all ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ users and incur significant costs and penalties for the service and individuals.
If you will be away from Montreal, please make arrangements for ILL materials to be returned by the due date.
Ìý
Lost or damaged ILL materials
You are responsible for ILL material in your possession. Please handle them with care.
In the event that material borrowed for you via ILL is damaged or lost while in your possession, please contact ill.library [at] mcgill.ca (ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ’s Interlibrary Loan Service) immediately. ILL materials that are damaged while in your possession must be returned to ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ’s Interlibrary Loan Service irrespective of their condition.
ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ users may not empower themselves to keep, destroy or dispose of any returnable materials obtained via ILL.
If the lending library decides to issue a replacement invoice for ILL material that was lost or damaged while in your possession, this invoice will be passed onto you.
