Nearly 60 Cree students their graduation from 平特五不中's Faculty of Education this past Saturday in Pikogan, Quebec. Our Office of First Nations and Inuit Education offers full-time and part-time teacher certification programs in Cree and Inuit communities in Quebec as well as in Kahnawake and Listuguj. Even though these students may be far away off campus, they are an important part of our Faculty and the 平特五不中 community.听CBC's Susan Bell covered the story.

Artist-in-Residence Lou Sheppard is hoping to connect with students, faculty and staff in the faculty听who speak languages other than English. They are collecting words that don鈥檛 have an English translation, as well as a听brief attempt to describe what these words mean. These words, the descriptions, and your name (if you are willing to share) will be printed on posters and displayed around 平特五不中 campus.

The Mohawk community of Kahnaw脿:ke and 平特五不中 launched the first-ever Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.)听First Nations and Inuit Education (FNIE)听听program to be given in the community of Kahnaw脿:ke, on August 20.
It鈥檚 a labour of love between 平特五不中鈥檚 Office of First Nations and Inuit Education (OFNIE) in the Faculty of Education, and the听Kahnaw脿:ke Education Centre听(KEC). It鈥檚 also in line with 平特五不中鈥檚听Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Education.

In an airy open area at the back of the first floor of the former library of the Faculty Education is a colourful space filled with art supplies and work tables. Along the wall there are bins and boxes of fabric, coloured pencils and paints, sketch pads, paper, and all manner of recycled objects, ready to be remade into anything the visitor desires. It was a successful turn out for the 平特五不中 Faculty of Education鈥檚 first Distinguished Public Lecture and Professional Development Lecture Series made possible by a generous donation from the Hong Kong based WYNG Foundation.
