Alex

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Mandarin (Casual)
Education: BSc. (Honours) Anatomy and Cell Biology (平特五不中 U., 2022)
Three years in sport psychology research at the Bloom Laboratory (平特五不中)
One year in cellular biomechanics research at the Ehrlicher Laboratory (平特五不中)

My name is Alex and I am grateful to be one of your student ambassadors. I grew up in Brampton and Toronto before moving to Montreal to complete a BSc. in Honours Anatomy and Cell Biology at 平特五不中. Throughout my undergrad, I was also a high-performance athlete on the Canadian national fencing team. My athletic experience motivated me to pursue research in sport psychology where I investigated how leaders can establish productive group norms to promote positive team outcomes. As part of my honour鈥檚 thesis, I also researched how cells detect and respond to shear forces in their environment.

Outside of school, I enjoy reading memoirs and continue to compete in fencing. I love spending time training with my teammates and travelling together to competitions. Through my course work and athletic career, I became curious in learning more about the human body and pursuing Medicine. I chose to study Medicine at 平特五不中 because I admired the teaching faculty and 平特五不中鈥檚 ability to integrate anglophone, francophone, and other diverse cultures into a welcoming environment. I鈥檓 excited to begin my medical career at 平特五不中 and would be happy to answer any questions you may have!

Adam

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Swahili (Casual), German (Novice), Spanish (Novice)
Education: DEC Sciences de la nature (Bois-de-Boulogne, 2014); B.Sc. Microbiology & Immunology (平特五不中, 2017); Ph.D. Microbiology & Immunology (平特五不中, 2022)

My name is Adam, and I am so pleased to serve as an ambassador. I was born and raised in Montreal with Somali & Djiboutian roots. I have been studying at 平特五不中 since 2014 where I completed my B.Sc. in Microbiology & Immunology and am currently in the final stages of my Ph.D. in the same department. My experience in graduate school further supported my desire to pursue medical education. Working in translational research and vaccine development, I later hope to bridge the gaps from the lab bench to the patient鈥檚 bedside in the future as a clinician-scientist.

As a first-year medical student, I am incredibly honoured to be part of such a multicultural and diverse cohort. With the largest class of Black students in 平特五不中 Medicine history, it is inspiring to be part of the change in representation in both the scientific and medical fields. In terms of education, we are fortunate that 平特五不中 offers a lot of hands-on experiences such as anatomy labs, ultrasound sessions, and the longitudinal family medicine experience (LFME). Having studied here for a long time, I can attest that the university attracts world-class scientists, professors, and doctors to deliver an incredible curriculum poised to prepare you to be excellent in your chosen field.

The application cycle is long and very stressful, but I hope to be able to answer any questions you might have and demystify the process as best as I can. Feel free to contact me and ask me anything! Looking forward to meeting you all and hearing more about your journeys. Good luck!

Magalie

Class of 2026

Languages: French, English, Spanish (novice)
Education:听DEC Health Sciences (C茅gep de Victoriaville, 2019-2021), Med-P Qualifying year听(平特五不中 2021-2022)

My name is Magalie and I am very excited to be a student ambassador for the class of 2026. I grew up 2 hours away from Montreal in a small city called Victoriaville where I went to Cegep. I moved to the island of Montreal for the Med-P year, which has been a huge, but amazing change in my life. I have done a lot of volunteering in high school in multiple fields surrounding inequities. I have also gone on a humanitarian trip to Haiti where I had the chance to work with children on their self-esteem. Helping people has always been very important to me and giving my time seems like a natural way to do so. My choice to pursue medicine only came later during CEGEP when I finally considered the possibility and applied to 平特五不中. Now that I am done with Med-P and studying the MDCM program, I could not be happier with the choice I made. Coming from a small town definitely shaped my views on life, which I love to discuss around good Italian food or a warm cup of coffee. On the weekends, you can find me studying in my pyjamas or playing tourist all around Montreal. I deeply believe in a healthy work-life balance, which, for me, comes through reading, doing sports like volleyball and hiking or hanging out with friends. If you ever want to discuss joining 平特五不中, choosing to study medicine, moving to Montreal, or any other concern you may have, do not hesitate to contact me, it will be a pleasure to help you in your journey!

Daniel

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French,Cantonese, Mandarin, German, Spanish, Dutch
Education: French Baccalaureate (Coll猫ge International Marie de France, 2017); BCL/JD, Joint Bachelor of Civil Law & Juris Doctor (University of Ottawa, 2022)

My name is Daniel and I'm happy that you are interested in medicine at 平特五不中. As a medicine student ambassador, I look forward to helping should you have any questions regarding the application process, the curriculum or any other concerns.

I am a native Montrealer. Prior to attending university, I completed my studies within the French lyc茅e system. My journey to 平特五不中's Faculty of Medicine is slightly unconventional, as I hold a joint Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Ottawa. Due to my legal training, I worked at an international law firm handling complex medical malpractice cases. This provided me newfound insight into the medical profession; particularly appealing is the unique opportunity doctors have to positively impact the lives of their patients. Consequently, I decided to pursue my medical education at 平特五不中 because I could identify more with the humanistic role of the clinician providing high-quality care regardless of socioeconomic factors.

To me, the 平特五不中 Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences embodies excellence with its internationally renowned academic expertise, diverse cohorts and outstanding student support services. I believe that innovation is the unifying component underlying the faculty鈥檚 holistic medical curriculum and instrumental to the myriad of research opportunities available in state-of-the-art facilities. In my free time, I like to play Mario Kart and have been told that I have a slight obsession with Call of Duty. I also relax by listening to '80s music as I run or bike along Montreal's vibrant neighborhoods and scenic urban beaches. Personally, I feel honoured to be part of the 平特五不中 family in the MDCM program. 平特五不中 has so much to offer. Please do not hesitate to reach out as I would love to help!

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French (casual)
Education:听DEC Health Sciences (Dawson 2016-2018),听Bachelor听of听Science (平特五不中听2021)

As a born and raised Montrealer, I鈥檝e lived in four different boroughs and spent my childhood and adolescence exploring the various things our city has to offer! Throughout my undergraduate at 平特五不中, I was involved in various actives ranging from research, hospital volunteering, and student associations. I鈥檓 a big proponent for being involved in school & community life and making connections with your peers. Aside from this, my two main interests lie in cooking & recipe development, and thrift shopping. I love to be immersed in the experience of creating a dish and finding a good deal on a vintage piece of clothing! Although I have always been interested in Medicine, my interest truly strengthened when I was diagnosed with Crohn鈥檚 Disease. This diagnosis opened me up to a passion for advocacy, and I have been engaging as a Crohn鈥檚 Disease advocate ever since! I chose 平特五不中 Medicine for its emphasis on early clinical exposure, unique Transition to Clinical Practice curriculum, and plethora of student-run organizations. This year, I am the Academic Representative for the Class of 2026, and I am loving the role so far. Please feel free to reach out for advice on any pre-med, academic, or recreational topic!

MD-PhD

Languages:听English, Korean, Japanese (Casual), French (Novice),听German (Novice), Mandarin (Novice)
Education:听MSc. Medical Sciences (McMaster University 2020), B.Sc. Life Sciences (McMaster University 2017)

My name is Jae, and I am excited to be your student ambassador for this upcoming academic year. I was born in Seoul, South Korea and ultimately grew up in Toronto, Canada before moving to Montreal. I completed both an undergraduate and a master's degree at McMaster University prior to starting my MD/Ph.D. education here at 平特五不中. I have a huge passion for academic research, where the major focus of my scientific career thus far has been to explore the mechanisms that underlie the progression of a wide range of cardiometabolic diseases (e.g. atherosclerosis, diabetes, NAFLD) by elucidating the role of a serine protease known as PCSK9 and its ability to antagonize the LDL receptor. With a multidisciplinary academic background, I have published in several high-impact journals which include Nature, the Journal of Clinical Investigation, ATVB, and the Journal of Hepatology. Additionally, my interest in medicine stems from (1) my passion to reinforce and advocate for the cultural/social diversity, which is so prevalent within our patient population today, and (2) to deepen our understanding of how academic research translates into patient care, reinforcing the 鈥榖ench-to-bedside鈥 concept that is very well-established within the medical community. Outside of medicine and in my spare time, I enjoy participating in competitive chess, practicing martial arts (Wing Chun, Krav Maga, Shaolin Kungfu, MMA), and composing music on my acoustic guitar. I look forward to meeting everyone and would be happy to connect and answer any questions that you may have!

Michael

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French听
Education: DEC Health Sciences (Marianopolis College, 2021); Med-P Qualifying Year (平特五不中, 2022)

My name is Michael and I'm incredibly happy to be representing 平特五不中 medicine. I grew up in the greater Montreal area (Laval) but did most of my education on the island of Montreal. I define myself by my charisma, empathy, and my unwavering ability to laugh at my own jokes. Outside of academics, I like to go out with my friends, play video games, and exercise. Also, I'm a huge Marvel, horror, and sci-fi movie fan. Before life gets too hectic, I hope to travel and see more of the world as soon as I can.

From a young age I had a soft spot for the sciences, but it wasn't until high school when we learned about the body's organ systems that I truly found my passion within the broad field. From there, I discovered medicine specifically when I witnessed first-hand the impact a physician can have on a patient and on a community at large. From that moment, I set off on my journey to join this outstanding profession. 平特五不中, of course, being a world-renowned university, located in my home city, and having core values that aligned with my own, made it my top choice for medical school. It goes without saying how humbled and excited I am to embark on this life-long journey. Apart from being the top medical doctoral university in the country, 平特五不中's "Patient at heart, science in hand" mantra is something I deeply resonate with. For me, I see 平特五不中's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as one determined to shape future physicians that practice evidence-based medicine and, likewise, always place the patient at the centre of their care. That perspective aligns with my values as a future physician; I strive to be an expert in my field and be capable of taking that expertise and translate it into compassionate care for my patient in need.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Vanessa

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Spanish (novice), Hebrew (novice)
Education: D.C.S. Pure and Applied Sciences (Dawson College, 2017); B.Sc. Biology (Concordia University, 2020); B.Sc. Kinesiology (Concordia University, 2022). Two years in orthopaedic surgery research at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research.

My name is Vanessa, and it is truly an honor and a privilege to be a medical student at 平特五不中. I have been extended the honor of serving as an ambassador for the Class of 2026 and I will carry this title with the utmost pride.

To tell you a bit about myself, I was born and raised in the beautiful city, Montreal. I am an avid baker and cook, I enjoy playing in a soccer league with my friends, and I also spend some of my past time playing piano. My time is spent most with family and friends, which are the most important aspects in my life. Prior to being admitted in the Faculty of Medicine, I was completing my second degree in Kinesiology, while working at a pediatric clinic as a physician assistant and volunteering at the Lady Davis Research Institute in the orthopaedic department. It was my time spent working at the pediatric clinic that has proven to prepare me most for my medical journey. 平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences aims to create physicians that will have their patients at heart and science in hand. What this means to me is that 平特五不中 is creating doctors that are first and foremost empathetic, but also doctors that foster resilience, health advocacy, inclusivity, and professionalism while being a healer. I have had the privilege of seeing this for myself working as a paediatric physician assistant for remarkable doctors that were graduates of 平特五不中, are preceptors for LFME, and are mentors and role models for individuals like myself, who aspire to become doctors. Being a medical student at 平特五不中, I am now seeing firsthand why 平特五不中 is a world-renowned university.

With that said, please do not hesitate to reach out, as it would be my pleasure to tell you about my experience at 平特五不中 thus far, whether it be as a current student or my journey to getting here, and to help you in your own journey in any way that I can!

Sepehr

Class of 2026

Languages: English, Farsi
Education: Thesis-based MSc - Physiology (University of Toronto 2021), B.Sc. (Honours) (University of Toronto 2019)

My name is Sepehr Niakani and I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. I immigrated to Canada when I was 15 and completed my high school and university education in Toronto prior to pursuing my medical studies at 平特五不中. I was intrigued by the sciences early on in high school which promoted me to major in physiology and immunology at the University of Toronto. I then completed a master鈥檚 degree in physiology where I studied the efficacy of pharmacotherapy in improving upper airway activity, underpinning sleep apnea at a basic science laboratory. You can find me playing soccer, watching stand up comedies, or hanging out with friends in my free time (which is becoming increasingly rare). I look forward to seeing you aspiring medical doctors and sharing with you the knowledge and experiences of my path to medical school. Finally, I leave you with a fantastic quote from Big Panda and Tiny Dragon, which I found particularly interesting when I was in your shoes applying to medical school:

"Which is more important," asked Big Panda, "the journey or the destination?" "The company," said Tiny Dragon.

Education: B.Sc. Honours Physiology (平特五不中, 2019); B.A. Psychology with minor in Educational Psychology (平特五不中, 2021)

My name is Kenneth, and I am honoured to be a student ambassador! I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and later moved to Toronto where I spent most of my childhood before coming to Montreal for undergrad at 平特五不中. Throughout my academic journey, I鈥檝e always kept in touch with the things I love: my musical side, community service and active living. For several years I was a trumpeter and sat on the executive council for a student-run wind orchestra called 平特五不中鈥檚 Symphonic Band Club, I鈥檝e enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering at Kids Help Phone and as a tutor for underprivileged children just to name a few. My passion for medicine began as a physiology student and grew stronger as I dove deeper into the subject and received more exposure to the field of healthcare. But why 平特五不中? I chose 平特五不中 due to the bilingual environment, its stellar reputation, cutting-edge research, and of course being able to live in the beautiful city of Montreal. During my free time you can always find me going rock climbing, hiking, or exploring the city. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I would be very happy to help!

Arianne

Class of 2026

Languages: French, English, Spanish (novice)
Education: Incomplete DEC Sciences de la nature (Cegep St-Jean-sur-Richelieu/Sherbrooke), BSc. Kinesiology (Universit茅 de Moncton, NB)

My name is Arianne, and I am honoured to be a student ambassador for the Class of 2026!

I grew up in Lacolle, a small village on the south shore of Montreal. Ever since I can remember, I always have wanted to help people as much as I can. My mom would often (and still does!) call me her mini mother Theresa because I always see the best in everyone and genuinely care about others.

In high school, I aspired to become a doctor. Given my natural aptitude, I thought it was possible. I had always had good grades and I was performing well on the field as well. I always have been athletic, between volleyball, soccer, and swimming. At one point, I had to choose between the three. I picked volleyball. Going to Cegep, I planned on acing classes and my rookie year. It did not go the way I planned. For the first time in my life, I had to study, and I did not know how. I struggled to balance volleyball and academics. I would not have had the grades to get into medicine in Cegep, but volleyball got me a second chance. I was recruited to go play volleyball in Division 1 at the Universit茅 of Moncton. There, I did not have to complete my DEC and directly started my bachelor's in kinesiology. I took this opportunity and change my student-athlete balance to a functional one, and here I am, a 2nd-year medical student at 平特五不中! I may have had an atypical pathway to medicine, but I am so proud of myself. In sports and school, hard work pays off. I hope my story inspires you, but most importantly; I hope you see that there is more than one path to medicine.

For me, work-life balance is the key, this dynamic equilibrium is essential to my well-being and success. My athletic career and kinesiology studies taught me the value of self-care, emphasizing regular exercise, quality sleep, a balanced diet, and stress management. Beyond medicine, I enjoy swimming, weightlifting, and various physical activities. I shared the rest of my free time with my family, and friends, and the Harry Potter marathon.

As a once-stressed and indecisive applicant, I remember how this period can be overwhelming. I will be happy to help you navigate through this journey! Don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out! I am here to provide reassurance, information, and answers to your questions. I can also assist you in selecting the right school by sharing my decision-making process and experience at 平特五不中. I will be happy to return the favour, as I contacted an ambassador (okay, 2鈥 I told you I had many questions and doubts!) myself during my admission cycle. I'm eager to pay it forward and help you navigate the admission process and important decisions.

Randy

Class of 2026

Languages: French, English, Dutch, Spanish, Lingala
Education: DEC in sciences de la nature (C茅gep de l'Outaouais, 2018); Bachelors in Biomedical sciences (University of Montreal, 2021); 1 year of Masters in biomedical sciences (University of Montreal, 2022)

My name is Randy and I am happy to be your ambassador for the 平特五不中 Faculty of Medicine for this academic year. My parents are of Congolese origin, but I was born and grew up in Belgium before immigrating to Canada at the age of 10. Upon arriving, I continued my education in Gatineau before moving to Montreal to complete my bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences and then 1 year of master's degree in the same program before being accepted at 平特五不中.

The 平特五不中 Faculty of Medicine is internationally recognized due to the quality of its training, constant support for students and its high success rate. The structure of the program and the early on clinical exposure also made me focus on this university during my applications. Furthermore, I also chose 平特五不中 because of its strong cultural diversity in the student community and its commitment to fighting social inequalities, particularly with the establishment of the new admissions category for Black candidates.

In my free time I love to travel! Traveling is my passion. I like discovering new cultures, learning new languages and meeting people from all over the world. Besides, I hope that you also have or will find a passion that will allow you to disconnect from your studies from time to time. Sometimes we are so focused on our goal of getting into medicine that we forget to think about ourselves and relax and this can sometimes become detrimental. Yes, medicine is a big part of my life now, but it鈥檚 not my whole life. This is a big lesson that I was able to learn through my time at university and which allowed me to perform well during my application.

Do not hesitate to write to me if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you on campus!

Gabrielle

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French
Education: B. Sc. in Nursing at Laval University

My name is Gabrielle, and I am honoured to be representing 平特五不中's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences as a Student Ambassador! I was born and raised in Saint-Anselme, a small town near Quebec City. I completed my bachelor鈥檚 in nursing in 2021 at Universit茅 Laval. Then, I became a Registered Nurse and had the chance to work with incredible colleagues and patients in pulmonology, cardiology, and palliative care. My passion for medicine continued to grow during that time, and this was when the idea of applying to medicine started to emerge. As you can tell, I am spontaneous by nature. I also think we should all trust the timing of our lives.

So, I did it! I got through the whole application and admission process to become a medical student at 平特五不中, and it was all worth it! If you ever have a thought on applying to medicine, do not hesitate to contact me, and it will be a pleasure for me to help you in your journey.

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Korean
Education: B.Sc. (Honours) Psychology with minor in Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (平特五不中, 2017); M.Sc. Neuroscience (平特五不中, 2021). Research experience: six years in developmental neuroendocrinology research at the RI-MUHC (Dr. Tuong-Vi Nguyen's Lab) and two years in psychophysiology research (Dr. Blaine Ditto's Lab)

Hello everyone! My name is Jimin and I am excited to be one of your student ambassadors for the Class of 2026.

To give you a little bit of information about me, I was born in South Korea but later grew up in this beautiful city of Montreal. My interest in medicine was instilled in me since a young age: not only was I fascinated by the human body and human behavior, but I grew up deeply reflecting on the privileges I have access to as well as health inequities and social determinants of health that contribute to those disparities. Working with various clinical populations such as cancer patients, geriatric patients, and people experiencing suicidal thoughts solidified my interest for medicine and provided me with opportunities for self-reflection, which I believe is an essential part of being a patient-centered physician. For these reasons, it felt very natural for me to choose medicine as it involves both giving back to my community while fulfilling my own personal and intellectual development.

I am thrilled to be studying at 平特五不中 Medicine because it offers high-quality education and countless opportunities for self-growth. Since the first year of medical school, I got myself deeply involved in various student leadership roles within the school, across Canada, and internationally! Aside from school, I love to travel, explore new coffee shops, and try new sports.

If you have any questions about our university, the medical program, or the curriculum, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to meeting you all!

Steve

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Spanish (casual)
Education: DEC Health sciences (C茅gep Andr茅-Laurendeau, 2019); B.Sc. (Honours) Neurosciences Cognitive (UdeM, 2022)
Two years in neuroscience research at Courtois neuromod (UdeM)
One year in behavioral psychology at LENS (UdeM)

Greetings dear traveller, pleasure to meet you! Fate brought you to my profile so I may as well introduce myself.

I am Steve, part of the MDCM听class of 2026 and acting as a student ambassador for my program. I have a background in cognitive neuroscience, a bachelor鈥檚 that I completed at UdeM. I was brought to this program at 平特五不中 for first having an interest in medicine, that field of study that considers each patient as a whole being, trying to decipher how so many aspects of body and mind interact with each other to give what one may see in daily life but particularly, in clinic. I came to 平特五不中, hoping to take advantage of all the different opportunities that this school offers and explore my different interests, namely early exposure to clinic and hospitals, research and peer collaboration.

Outside of medicine, I am passionate about music and sports. For the former, even if I do not touch a piano as often as before, I enjoy making music and writing texts when possible. As for sports, it is a fun way for me to keep a balance with a busy schedule and keep me somewhat in shape: to treat others, you yourself should try to stay healthy. I particularly love soccer and basketball, probably would have played with Messi and Ronaldo if I continued but I guess we'll never know.

As I am grateful for my upbringing and all the people who helped me get to where I am, giving back is extremely important for me. I want to help others, especially those that will help be the needed representation. It is mostly because of that giving back mindset that I have been involved since childhood in different organizations and groups to help my community and those who needed assistance. As my friends used to say, I love working for free.

I wish you safe travels and if we are to meet, I wish that we may be able to help each other on our paths!

Education: DEC sciences de la nature - profil sciences pures et appliqu茅es (Coll猫ge Montmorency, 2019); B. Sc. Sciences biologiques - Orientation biodiversit茅, 茅cologie et 茅volution (Universit茅 de Montr茅al, 2022)

Hi! My name is Laurence, and it鈥檚 an honor to be an ambassador for the MDCM program!

I grew up in Terrebonne, on the north shore of Montreal. I have lived there until my second year of medical school! When I鈥檓 not in Montreal studying or trying new restaurants, you can find me hiking, reading, cooking with my mom, or playing video games.

I took a liking for sciences pretty early on in my life: I remember fondly that when I was 5 or 6 years old, my dad was teaching me about the digestive system instead of reading me a story at bedtime and my sister taking me into the forest and showing me all kinds of mushrooms and plants and teaching me about the importance of taking care of our planet. Science was my favorite subject in high school, and you could find me at Expo-Sciences. During my second biology class in CEGEP, I took an interest in medicine per se. After CEGEP, I was not admitted to medicine and decided to complete my bachelor鈥檚 degree in another field that I was passionate about: ecology and environment. During my degree, I had the opportunity to learn a lot about research as I was working in a lab at IRBV. After my undergrad, I decided that medicine was still something I wanted to pursue鈥 and here I am! I am interested in planetary health: medicine and ecology may seem very different subjects, but I think they go together hand in hand!

I vividly remember going through the admission cycle and how stressful it can be. I hope I can facilitate this process for you and answer any questions you may have, so please don鈥檛 hesitate to reach out; I really like talking, haha!

Viet

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Vietnamese (Casual)
Education: B.Sc (Joint Honours) Computer Science and Biology (平特五不中, 2021)

My name is Viet and I鈥檓 excited to be a Student Ambassador for the class of 2026! Originally from Ottawa, I moved to Montreal for my undergraduate studies. Montreal is such a diverse and vibrant city, and my fondness for the city came largely from looking for places to practice street and portrait photography, which is one of my biggest hobbies. I always carry my camera around me because you never know what you'll run into! I also love cooking, which complements my love for eating. In between classes, you can also 铿乶d me lifting weights at 平特五不中's Athletics center.

As a nerdy kid who loved science of all kinds, my interest in medicine started a very long time ago, but it became my passion during my undergraduate years at 平特五不中, where I studied computer science and biology. With how increasingly digitized our society has become, I am absolutely fascinated with how technology can be used to advance medicine effectively and responsibly. I鈥檓 currently doing research at the UHN in Toronto where I鈥檓 looking into ways computer systems can be used to understand the development of cancer cell resistance to therapies.

平特五不中 was easily my 铿乺st choice because it is a world-class institution that provides an outstanding undergraduate medical program. 平特五不中 uniquely places a strong emphasis on early clinical exposure through the Longitudinal Family Medicine Experience (LFME) and Transition to Clinical Practice (TCP). With state-of-the-art facilities and distinguished professors, it was immediately clear to me that 平特五不中 aims to train a diverse cohort of students to become well- rounded physicians. I am humbled and grateful to be a Student Ambassador for this program, and if you have and questions regarding the curriculum, student life, or anything in between, feel free to reach out to me!

Zhida

Class of 2026

Languages: English, French, Mandarin
Education: DEC Health Sciences (Marianopolis 2014), B.Sc. Nursing (平特五不中 2017), M.Sc. Nursing (平特五不中 2020)

My name is Zhida, and I was born in China and grew up in Montreal. Before embarking on my journey in medical school, I completed both my bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing at 平特五不中, where I also worked as a nurse. Given my deep roots at 平特五不中, it's only fitting that I'm now pursuing medicine here. Outside of academics, I'm passionate about cycling, weightlifting, and delving into history books. Whenever my budget permits, I also love to travel and explore underwater worlds through scuba diving.

You might be wondering about the experience at 平特五不中's medical school. It's truly a vibrant and stimulating environment. Having worked as a nurse, I've had the privilege of collaborating with many physicians who now teach me. The faculty is both supportive and exceptionally knowledgeable. While the curriculum is undeniably demanding, the beauty of our education here is that it's not just about grades鈥攊t's about building a solid foundation to provide the best care for our patients. Having been there myself, I know that the journey is difficult, but know that you are not alone. I am more than happy to talk about my experiences as a non-traditional applicant and the curriculum here at 平特五不中.

Johanna

Class of 2026

Languages: French, English
Education: B.Sc. Biology (Concordia University, 2016); B. Sc. Kinesiology (Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al, 2022)

Born and raised in Paris, France, I moved to Montreal at 19 after obtaining my French baccalaureate. I chose Qu茅bec for its rich cultural diversity, bilingualism, and natural beauty. Though adjusting to life far from home was challenging, I鈥檝e since built a fulfilling life here, and Montreal now feels like my second home. After completing two undergraduate degrees and gaining work experience, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a physician. 平特五不中 was my clear first choice due to its strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the quality and breadth of its curriculum.

When I鈥檓 not focused on my studies, I enjoy hobbies centered around physical activity. Dance has always been a passion of mine, allowing me to connect with others beyond words. I started learning salsa two years ago and continue to enjoy its vibrant energy. I鈥檓 also a fan of tennis, both as a player and spectator, and I cherish time spent with friends and family, whether through sports, shared meals, or movie nights.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Kacylia

Class of 2026

Languages: French, English, Spanish
Education: DEC Health Sciences (Coll猫ge Andr茅-Grasset, 2021), Two years of research experience with CommiSur Lab

Hi! My name is Kacylia Roy Proulx, and I am a third-year medical student at 平特五不中 after completing the Med-P Preparatory Year. I am thrilled to be one of the Student Ambassadors, ready to support and guide you through your journey into medical school. I was accepted into medical school as a CEGEP applicant from Andre-Grasset College, driven by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact on global healthcare.

Early in my medical journey, I became actively involved in global health. I was invited to the World Health Summit in Berlin to discuss pressing global health issues and represent the voice of students. My fieldwork experiences in Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Peru, as well as research in Jordan and a recent elective rotation in Rwanda, have shaped my path toward addressing healthcare inequalities, particularly in surgical access. These experiences have fueled my passion for advancing surgical care worldwide.

I am now actively engaged in research projects that aim to improve surgical outcomes globally. At 平特五不中, I have embraced numerous leadership roles. As VP Global Health in my first year, I coordinated projects to enhance population health and reduce health inequalities on both local and international levels. As an adventurer and nature lover, I have served as the Co-President of the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group for the past three years, organizing outdoor activities for medical students. Currently, I hold several leadership positions, including VP Global Surgery for the Association of Women Surgeons, North America Regional Lead for the Gender Equity Initiative in Global Surgery, and General Surgery Representative for the MSS Student Surgical Society. I am also in my fourth year of involvement as VP External with the Canadian Global Surgery Trainees鈥 Alliance. Through these roles, I aim to amplify voices in the surgical community and work toward a more inclusive and equitable healthcare system.

Outside of medical school, my interests span music, sports, and entrepreneurship. As a sports enthusiast and adrenaline junkie, I spend most of my free time (yes, even medical students have free time!) swimming, running, mountaineering, sailing, hiking, and scuba diving. I was also a varsity rowing athlete at 平特五不中 during my first year. Traveling is a significant part of my life, as I love to explore new places and immerse myself in different cultures. If I'm not at school or the hospital, you can certainly find me outside of the country! Additionally, I am the president and founder of my own company. And on weekends, I always enjoy a good night out with friends!

I understand that the medical school application process, while exciting, can also be lengthy and stressful. And I am super excited to help you with any questions you may have and to guide and support you through this journey! Do not hesitate to reach out, I am looking forward to meeting you!
