Title:聽Polynomial solutions of KP and Gelfand-Dickey hierarchies
Abstract:聽It is a wellknown result of M. Sato that all Schur functions are solutions of the KP hierarchy and that a general solution can be expressed聽 as a possibly infinite linear combination of these Schur functions. However, not all linear combinations are solutions of this KP hierarchy. In this talk I will address the topic of polynomial solutions of various hierarchies. In particular, I will give a simple formula that describes all polynomial solutions for both the KP and Gelfand-Dickey hierarchies.聽 This is based on joint work with Victor Kac.
