The Quebec Ministry听of Education听has launched the offering $15.8 million dollars in scholarship money to Education students enrolled in a full-time Bachelor of Education program leading to teacher certification.听
The value of each scholarship is $7,500 annually. The Bourses d鈥檈xcellence scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence; students need not apply. For the 2023-24 academic year, the Faculty of Education will distribute 42 scholarships for students in Years 1, 2, 3, and 4 (for a total of 168 scholarships). These numbers are pro-rated across the following B.Ed. programs: Kindergarten/Elementary, Kindergarten/Elementary - First Nations and Inuit Studies (OFNIE), Music, Physical and Health Education, Secondary, and TESL.
Eligibility requirements:
- Completed 12 graded* credits in the Fall 2022听term (if returning student)
- Completed 12 graded* credits in the Winter 2023听term (if returning student)
- *Graded credits = credits completed for courses that were given letter grades (A-D, P), and were not graded under any Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) option.
- Registered full-time in the Fall 2023听and Winter 2024听terms (excluding students graduating in the Fall 2023听term)
- Students who were on the Faculty鈥檚 authorized part-time study list during Fall 2022听and Winter 2023听will remain eligible if their extenuating circumstances are recognized by the Ministry of Education (e.g. are registered with the , were registered part-time because of advanced standing/program progression).
Students who must be part-time in Fall 2023 and require part-time status authorization must submit ISA鈥檚 form as soon as possible, and prior to the add/drop deadline. This year we are planning to select students for the program in October. It is therefore imperative that you are registered full-time (12 credits or more) or have submitted the Request for Permission to Study Part-time by the add/drop deadline. You can still make changes to your Fall 2023 course selections until the Add/Drop deadline on September 12; however, please make sure that you maintain 12 credits or more in your Fall 2023 term during this period.
鉂� TAKE NOTE: The Faculty of Education is required to check recipients鈥� records throughout the year, and the scholarship will be revoked if a recipient falls into unauthorized part-time status in the Fall and/or Winter term.
