Cynthia Perlman has been actively involved in the development, delivery and evaluation of the IPE curriculum since 2009. As an Executive member since 2016 (and Chair, Curriculum Committee (Office of Interprofessional Education (OIPE) from 2016-2022), she has sustained the relevance and coherence of the IPE curriculum with the Canadian Interprofessional Health Competency framework (CIHC, 2010) and supported a shift to blended IPE instruction incorporating preparatory learning activities to enrich in-class interactive reflective participation. Her earlier IPE experiences began at the School of Physical and Occupational Therapy contributing to the development of the IPE activities that focused on the impact of interprofessional collaboration in rehabilitation contexts.

Cynthia Perlman, currently appointed Director, Office of Interprofessional Education (OIPE), works in collaboration with the OIPE Executive and the OIPE stakeholders to strengthen IPE teaching and learning opportunities both in the classroom and clinical settings and to promote sustainable IPE pedagogy, scholarship and community engagement.

She contributes and supports growth in scholarly activities within the OIPE and has presented and collaborated on presentations locally, nationally and internationally in Occupational Therapy (CAOT) and IPE (All Together Better Health, Collaborating Across Borders). She has been named to the Faculty Honour list for Educational Excellence in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2022 and was the co-recipient of the Faculty Award for Teaching Innovation 2022, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, for her contributions in developing a curriculum-integrated community engagement IPE initiative between the Hospital Elder Life Program (H.E.L.P, Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Qc) and first-year occupational therapy and physical therapy students.

Cynthia Perlman is a member of the Canadian Interprofessional Healthcare Collaborative (CIHC) and Interprofessional.Global.

Research interests:

Cynthia Perlman's research interests focus on curriculum and instructional design, including the design, implementation, assessment/program evaluation and sustainability of an interprofessional education curriculum in health professions education and in community-integrated teaching and learning experiences.
