Awardees (2020)

We offer wholehearted congratulations to the following winners of the 2020 Equity Awards in two categories: Team and Student.

The winner聽of the team category was the Graduate Engineering Equity Committee (GEEC).

The Graduate Engineering Equity Committee (GEEC)聽is a team of graduate students and postdocs聽within all departments and schools of the Faculty of Engineering. They work to promote social education and awareness through a number of activities such as聽workshops, discussion groups, de-stress events and networking opportunities.

They work in collaboration with other units at 平特五不中 working to promote wellness and equity, including Peer Support Centre, PGSS Equity and Diversity Committee, Local Wellness Advisors, and the 平特五不中 Art Hive Initiative.

The Equity Award in the student category was awarded to聽Elena Lin.

Elena Lin

Elena Lin聽is a聽Master's student聽in Neuroscience. She also holds a degree in Microbiology & Immunology with a Minor in Art History from 平特五不中.聽

During her time on campus, Lin has championed equity, diversity, and inclusion through extra-curricular activities.聽

She is co-director of the 平特五不中 Student Chapter of Scientista, an organization that promotes women and underrepresented groups in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine). She also聽co-founded the SciComm Collective with Danielle Nadin (a MSc student in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience), which combines EDI advocacy with science communication and the arts.


平特五不中 is on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations. We acknowledge and thank the diverse Indigenous peoples whose presence marks this territory on which peoples of the world now gather.
