Student Stories: Fanny Langin

Published: 16 June 2020

Fanny Langin, Education Undergraduate Society’s former President, is an outstanding example of ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ students’ capacity to adapt and grow in times of uncertainty and change. Not only did she complete her Bachelor of Education in the Winter 2020 semester, but Fanny has also been busy teaching French second language classes online. In late March, when parents of some West End public schools were seeking additional instruction for their children while schools were closed, Fanny answered an ad placed through the Faculty’s Internships and Student Affairs Office.

This helped launch her professional tutoring services as word of mouth soon turned one small group of grade three students into multiple tutoring groups. Weeks later, Fanny continues to work with various groups of elementary-aged students, helping them maintain their French education and giving them an opportunity to socialize, albeit virtually. This is undoubtedly a welcome reprieve for parents working from home while homeschooling during COVID-19.
