平特五不中 Provost Announces Victoria Talwar as Education's Interim Dean

Dear members of the 平特五不中 community,
It is my pleasure to announce the appointment of Professor Victoria Talwar as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Education. Professor Talwar's term of office will begin on August 12, 2023 and will continue until the appointment of a new Dean of the Faculty of Education.
Prof. Talwar joined 平特五不中鈥檚 Faculty of Education in 2004 and is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, where she has served as Department Chair since 2020. She is also an Associate Member of both the Institute for Human Development and Well-Being (IHDW) and the Department of Psychology.
Prof. Talwar is a James 平特五不中 Professor and held the Tier II Canada Research Chair in Forensic Developmental Psychology from 2012-2022. She is an accomplished scholar widely recognized for her work in developmental psychology and law. Prof. Talwar鈥檚 innovative interdisciplinary research on children鈥檚 verbal deception, moral development and child witness competency issues has informed current debates about children鈥檚 social-cognitive development and has contributed to legal reform in Canada. Her teaching and supervision have been recognized through several awards including the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools Teaching (Doctoral level) Award and 平特五不中鈥檚 David Thomson Award for Graduate Supervision and Teaching. Prof. Talwar holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology from Queen's University, and a Master鈥檚 degree in Psychology from the University of St. Andrews.
I would like to thank Prof. Talwar for agreeing to take on these responsibilities in an interim capacity. I also want to take this occasion to extend my sincere gratitude to Professor Dilson Rassier for his outstanding service to our University as Dean of the Faculty of Education for the past nine years and congratulate him for his appointment as Provost and Vice-President Academic at Simon Fraser University.
In accordance with University Statutes, I have advised the Secretary-General of the need to establish an Advisory Committee for the selection of a new Dean of the Faculty of Education. Information regarding the position, and the nomination and application processes, will be forthcoming.

La Pre Victoria Talwar s鈥檈st jointe 脿 la Facult茅 des sciences de l鈥櫭ヾucation de l鈥橴niversit茅 平特五不中 en 2004 et est actuellement professeure titulaire au D茅partement de psychop茅dagogie et de psychologie du counseling, dont elle est 茅galement directrice depuis 2020. Elle est aussi membre adjointe du D茅partement de psychologie et de l鈥橧nstitut de recherche pour le d茅veloppement et le bien-锚tre humain.
En plus d鈥櫭猼re titulaire d鈥檜ne chaire James-平特五不中, la Pre Victoria Talwar a 茅t茅 titulaire de la chaire de recherche du Canada de niveau 2 en psychologie judiciaire du d茅veloppement de 2012 脿 2022. Elle est une chercheuse accomplie, largement reconnue pour ses travaux en psychologie du d茅veloppement et en droit. Les travaux de recherche interdisciplinaires novateurs de la Pre Talwar sur la psychologie de l鈥檈nfant, notamment en ce qui a trait 脿 la tromperie verbale, au d茅veloppement moral et 脿 la comp茅tence de l鈥檈nfant t茅moin, ont 茅clair茅 les d茅bats actuels sur le d茅veloppement sociocognitif de l鈥檈nfant et ont contribu茅 脿 des r茅formes juridiques au Canada. La Pre Talwar est titulaire d鈥檜n doctorat en psychologie du d茅veloppement de l鈥橴niversit茅 Queen鈥檚 et d鈥檜ne ma卯trise en psychologie de l鈥橴niversit茅 de St Andrews. Ses qualit茅s d鈥檈nseignante et de superviseure lui ont valu plusieurs prix, notamment le prix de l鈥檈nseignement au doctorat de la Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools et le prix de supervision et d鈥檈nseignement aux cycles sup茅rieurs David-Thomson de l鈥橴niversit茅 平特五不中.
