平特五不中's Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is seeking an Academic Projects Officer. This administrator provides advising, planning, policy and project support on a range of dossiers and initiatives led by Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. This includes providing support in the preparation of planning documents, project reports, briefing notes, data analysis and presentations. They play an essential role in the advancement of the priorities of the unit.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide project management support to priority initiatives undertaken by the unit (e.g. Graduate Supervision; Indigenous Graduate Students; Equity, Diversity and Inclusion).
  • Conduct in-depth, and at times ad-hoc, research on graduate education topics. Benchmark 平特五不中 against peer institutions. Stay abreast of trends and new developments. Anticipate needs or issues. Make recommendations for policy and program updates to enhance graduate education at 平特五不中.
  • In collaboration with Analysis, Planning and Budget (APB), design, conduct, analyze and report on surveys about graduate education at 平特五不中.
  • Ensure clear and concise transmission of information in an easy-to-use format. Prepare written communications (e.g. reports, briefing documents, correspondence, presentations).
  • Formulate recommendations for policy changes and policy implementation. Ensure appropriate follow-up to policy changes and new regulations (e.g. mandatory supervision orientations).
  • Facilitate the development of internal communications and ensure transparency of information across the 平特五不中 graduate community.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and workshops.
  • Stay informed about academic debates about supervision, graduate degrees, program development etc. in order to inform decision-making at the senior administration level.
  • Undertake special projects pertaining to the academic priorities of the unit.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Graduate degree an asset.
  • Interest in and understanding of the structure of the academic milieu; experience in a university and academic work setting an asset (particularly as it relates to graduate education).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task while establishing priorities and maintaining flexibility to meet tight and sometimes competing deadlines. Meticulous and efficient with proven attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. Proven ability to creatively solve problems and demonstrate 鈥渙ut-of-the-box鈥 thinking. Ability to work with abstract, broad, intangible concepts and flush out concrete action plans.
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth research, analyze and synthesize critical information.
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to develop and nurture partnerships.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to transmit and receive information clearly, appropriately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure on multiple projects and to prioritize and meet strict deadlines with limited supervision.
