Rosemary Carlton

Rosemary CarltonRosemary Carlton, PhD, is an Assistant professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Montreal. She has extensive social work experience in the fields of child welfare, pediatric health/mental health, and child sexual abuse. Inspired by this experience, Rosemary has developed a research program focusing on the intersecting areas of child welfare, sexual abuse and exploitation, youth aging out of care, and reflective, intersectional social work practice. She has a particular interest in pursuing qualitative and participatory research informed by critical, feminist, intersectional and decolonial perspectives and over recent years has explored a girl-centred framework for pursuing research on, for and with girls inspired by Girlhood Studies. Rosemary鈥檚 current research projects focus on investigating how prevailing social, professional and institutional discourses shape child welfare involvement with sexually exploited youth. She is also a co-researcher on projects addressing green, environmental justice approaches to social work pedagogy and practice and the integration of child welfare and mental health services for youth in the child welfare system.
