Josianne Lamothe

Josianne LamotheJosianne Lamothe, MSW, PhD, is an assistant professor at the Universit茅 de Sherbrooke鈥檚 School of Social Work. Her research focuses on the experiences of families and professionals who support young people exposed to various forms of trauma, both interpersonal (such as maltreatment and violence) and disaster-related (e.g., natural disasters due to climate change). Social support, whether from parents, friends, or professionals, is essential to ensuring the resilience and well-being of young people, but supporting others who suffer can also be a challenge; that is why Dr. Lamothe鈥檚 research aims to improve the lives of helpers in innovative ways. She is currently working on a research project on the experiences of psychosocial workers and parents supporting youths with eco-anxiety and she leads another project on coping among psychosocial workers working with youths exposed to adversity and trauma. Dr. Lamothe is open to hearing from students and other researchers interested in her field of research.
