Research Project:
High-temperature electrocatalysis in the sustainable production of aromatics from lignin." Many aromatic chemicals such as Kevlar, artificial vanilla, and pharmaceuticals are made from petroleum because no safe and cost-effective method has been found to make them from renewable sources. This project aims to discover a renewable pathway to produce such chemicals from lignin, a ubiquitous component of plant biomass, using electrocatalysis at high temperature.
