平特五不中鈥檚 Student Directory to be decommissioned on May 30, 2022

平特五不中鈥檚 Student Directory, where students can choose to share their contact information with their fellow students or the community at large, will be decommissioned as of May 30, 2022. If you are a student whose information is listed in the directory, no action is required on your part.

The option to add or remove your name and contact information from the Student Directory has been removed from Minerva. If you are listed in the Student Directory and wish to remove your contact information before May 30, please contact the IT Service Desk.

UPDATED: Wired and wireless connectivity issues at 5100 de Maisonneuve

Update (March 30, 2022)

The wired network outage at 5100 de Maisonneuve reported last week is ongoing. We have learned that the issue听 was caused by a fire in the manhole, which damaged the fiber cable. Emergency teams from the City of Montreal are on site and we hope to be able to resolve the issue by early next week once their work is complete. Check back here for status updates.

Marc Rousseau joins 平特五不中 as Director, Research Software

Research and Innovation and IT Services are pleased to welcome Marc Rousseau to the role of Director, Research Software / Directeur du Logiciel de Recherche. In this new role, Rousseau provides support and advice to the 平特五不中 research community on software, from grant applications to the implementation of research activities. He will also lead the development of the 平特五不中 Digital Research Services team, which will assist researchers in all fields of study with resources and tools in research data management (RDM), research software (RS) and advanced research computing (ARC).

New role in the WMS: Site Administrator

A new role,听Site Administrator,听has been added to the 平特五不中 Web Management System (WMS).

What is it?

The Site Administrator serves as the primary contact and oversees the quality and overall objectives of their site. Replacing the now defunct designation of Primary Site Manager, this new role has been created to help ensure quality and reduce complexity for Site Managers and other contributors.

Upcoming WMS feature: Channels Event Search

The Web Service Group is working to make it easier for visitors to find and view events on WMS sites, similar to what is on听www.mcgill.ca/music/events.

As a result,听Channels Event Search听will soon be made available to all WMS sites.

What is it?

Channels Event Search makes it possible to display, search, and filter local channels event content on any site where it is enabled.

Access to 平特五不中 Library e-resources to cease for all ineligible accounts as of February 16, 2015

As of Monday, February 16, 2015, access to 平特五不中 Library e-resources from off campus will end for all ineligible 平特五不中 affiliates. The Library's license agreements for electronic resources generally only cover off-campus access for current 平特五不中 students, faculty and staff.

In July 2013, in an effort to comply with licensing agreements for electronic content, the 平特五不中 Library began a process of analyzing 平特五不中 user and affiliated accounts to ensure that only eligible users were able to access the Library鈥檚 e-resources. This work has now been completed.

Free Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus software for students

Starting today, August 19, 平特五不中 students have free access to the latest version of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office apps. You may download and install it on up to five compatible personal devices, including PCs, Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Android smartphones and tablets.

As long as you're a student at 平特五不中, you'll be able to continue to use Office 365 ProPlus at no charge, and will receive automatic software updates.

Heartbleed: reset your 平特五不中 Password

In April, we emailed you about the Heartbleed vulnerability and its potential impact on 平特五不中. All of 平特五不中's central IT systems have been evaluated, and updates were applied where needed. As a final precaution, we strongly encourage you to change your 平特五不中 Password without delay.听

If you are a 平特五不中 staff member, you are required to change your password.
