Maggie Logel

Maggie received her Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Life Sciences from Queen鈥檚 University in 2020. She completed a Graduate Diploma in Oncology focusing on Global and Population Cancer control at 平特五不中 in 2021. Her practicum research project was with the Division of Cancer Epidemiology which focused on the legal and ethical implications of gender-neutral human papillomavirus vaccination. In hopes of combining her interests in epidemiology and oncology, Maggie decided to pursue her Master of Science in Epidemiology at 平特五不中 in September 2021. Her thesis research听is investigating the role of the vaginal microbiome in HPV-associated cervical carcinogenesis.听Maggie has also worked as an Assistant Editor for Preventive Medicine and Preventive Medicine Reports since June 2021.

THESIS RESEARCH


Project Title:听The cervicovaginal microbiome in human papillomavirus-associated cervical carcinogenesis: potential value for clinical practice (supervisor: Dr. Eduardo Franco).

Brief Description:听Maggie's thesis research is investigating the role of the vaginal microbiome in HPV-associated cervical carcinogenesis. Specifically, she is looking at听the relationship between the vaginal microbiome, HPV infections, and CIN severity using vaginal samples from women referred for colposcopic examination.
