Peptide Synthesis

The Peptide Synthesis Laboratory听specializes in various custom and contract services related to peptide science. Peptides are complex molecules and each peptide sequence is unique with regard to its chemical and physical properties.

Peptides are synthesized by the solid-phase method using Fmoc chemistry on an Omega 348 multiple peptide synthesizer from Advanced ChemTech. Synthesis is carried out at 5 - 100 碌mole scales. On average, a synthesis scale of 50 碌moles will yield about 20-25 mg of a crude 10-residue peptide after cleavage from the resin. There are options for small scale (2-5 mg) synthesis of up to 48 different peptides, or large scale synthesis of a few peptides.

We offer assistance or collaboration for peptide and structure design to meet the aims of a project, whether it is for generating antibodies, or to study protein-peptide interactions. The Peptide Synthesis Laboratory provides a complete spectrum of services that include preparation of the peptide-resin, cleavage, peptide modifications such as cyclization, biotinylation, N-acetylation, C-amidation etc. Strict quality control in peptide synthesis is very important. To ensure the highest quality of synthetic product, an analytical-scale high pressure liquid chromatogram (HPLC) is provided with every peptide. The core lab will also provide MALDI-TOF or electro-spray mass-spectra.
