听was appointed interim director of the 平特五不中 Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4), Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, 平特五不中, in November 2021. The co-director (Infection) of MI4 prior to this appointment, he will continue to work with Dr. Marie Hudson, also a co-director (Immunity) since 2019.

Tuberculosis Trials Consortium Clinical (2020-2030)
听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听 听
RI-MUHC is being awarded听the听Tuberculosis Trials Consortium Clinical from听the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) in the amount of $USD 13.5 million.
The purpose of this procurement is to support clinical trials and clinical research on the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of tuberculosis . Emphasis will be given to studies of latent TB infection in low- and medium- TB incidence settings, inclusive of but not limited to the United States and Canada, as well as studies of active TB disease both domestically and internationally.

TB Centre Members Awarded听4-year CIHR Project Grant
Dr. Simon Grandjean Lapierre (PI), Dr. Marcel Behr (Co-I) and Dr. Kevin Schwartzman (Co-I) have been awarded a 4-year project grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for their project titled 鈥淭uberculosis Whole Genome Sequencing for Disease Control in Madagascar - A Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial to Evaluate Different Community-Level Strategies to Reduce the Burden of Disease鈥.

Dr. Dick Menzies, Director of the Respiratory Epidemiology Unit at 平特五不中 and 平特五不中鈥檚 World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in TB Research, has been named recipient of the 2019 CIHR-ICRH/CTS Distinguished Lecturer Award (DLA) in Respiratory Sciences.
Each year, the DLA Series honours outstanding researchers within the Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (ICRH) research community who have contributed significantly to the advancement of science in their field听both in Canada and internationally.听

Dr. Marcel Behr has been elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology. The Academy recognizes excellence, originality, and leadership in the microbiological sciences.听
He has also been elected as听Tier 1 Canada Research Chair for听Mycobacterial Genomics.
Tier 1 Canada Research Chairs (CRC) are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields. A Chair is tenable for seven years and renewable once.

Dr. Madhukar Pai serves as a Consultant to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He serves on the听Scientific Advisory Committee of FIND, Geneva; and Access Advisory Committee of TB Alliance. He is on the editorial boards of听Lancet Infectious Diseases,听PLoS Medicine,听eLife,听PLoS ONE,听 International Journal of TB and Lung Disease, among others.听听
He is a member of the Royal Society of Canada, and an elected Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.听
