On Friday April 10 2015 the Department of Sociology will host a symposium presenting comparative perspectives on some of the key challenges faced by liberal democratic societies. The three central topics of the event will be: the integration of Muslim immigrants in Canada and Europe, racial inequality in the US and in Canada, and liberal nationalisms in Quebec, Scotland and beyond.
The main speakers will be: Jeffrey Reitz (University of Toronto); Paul Eid (UQAM); Nancy Di Tomaso (Rutgers University); Carl James (York University); James Kennedy (University of Edinburgh); Garth Stevenson (Brock University).
