Biography

Dominique B茅rub茅 is the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, and Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at 平特五不中. A strategic leader with intersectoral expertise of the academic, research, and innovation ecosystem, Professor B茅rub茅 has more than 22 years of experience in research funding and innovation administration. A member of the Ordre des ing茅nieurs du Qu茅bec, she holds a Ph.D. in environmental sciences from the Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al and master's and bachelor's degrees from Polytechnique Montr茅al in metallurgical and materials science.

From 2022-2024, Professor B茅rub茅 was the Vice-President of Research and Graduate Studies at Concordia University. During her tenure, the university secured significant research investments from the鈥疌anada First Research Excellence Fund鈥(CFREF) and the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF).

From 2015-2021, Professor B茅rub茅 served as Vice-President of Research at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), leading the vision for SSHRC's core research funding programs and inter-agency programs. In this role, she transformed the Canadian research ecosystem through various initiatives, whilst placing equity, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of research evaluation and removing systemic barriers to funding access. She developed new programs to respond to the pandemic's impact, and supported interdisciplinarity, high-risk and high-impact research and the Canadian biomanufacturing strategy. Professor B茅rub茅 led SSHRC鈥檚 response to the Call to Action 65 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, in partnership with the National Center for Truth and Reconciliation and the Tri-agency Indigenous Strategic Plan. She was also responsible for SSHRC鈥檚 Indigenous Advisory Circle.

Before joining SSHRC, Professor B茅rub茅 was Associate Vice-President of Research at the Universit茅 de Montr茅al, where she coordinated research across the university ecosystem, leading the development of large-scale initiatives in various fields such as artificial intelligence and the health sector. She also chaired the board of the 脡rudit consortium, leading the digital publishing organization in social sciences and humanities to its recognition as a major scientific infrastructure in Canada.
