Available to one student. The course is designed to offer the student a broad all-encompassing overview of the various fields with which reparative surgery is involved. During the study period, the exposure may reasonably be expected to familiarize the trainee with the basic approaches to fundamental techniques of hand surgery, maxillofacial surgery, soft tissue procedures of the trunk and lower extremities with exposure to myocutaneous flaps, care of burns and microsurgical procedures. The student will participate in daily ward rounds, weekly rounds and seminars in order to witness decision making processes, pre- and post-surgical care, etc. Follow-up clinics in plastic surgery and hand surgery are held three times weekly at the Montreal General Hospital and active participation is expected. 平特五不中 Inter-hospital Plastic Surgery Rounds and Seminars are held every Wednesday afternoon during the academic year and students on electives are encouraged to attend and participate. A limited situation exists for the exposure of students to laboratory techniques of wound suturing and microsurgical techniques. In summary, participation will be as a full member of the Plastic Surgery team and the opportunity for exposure to both elective and acute surgical situations is more than ample.

Available to one student at any one time. The student will be attached to the Plastic Surgery Department and would be encouraged to partake actively in the clinical evaluation of patients and assessment for surgery. The student will be expected to take part in ward rounds, outdoor clinics and to observe and assist in the operative procedures. Clinical research into the problems of congenital hand deformities and hemangiomata could form a portion of this elective and statistical survey of these and other conditions that are treated on this service would make the program of greater value to the participating student.

Important Note: Please note that we won't be able to accept any more students during period 7 at the Montreal Children's Hospital

This elective is available to one student per period, either at the Clerkship level. It will expose the student to an overview of general Plastic Surgery with an emphasis on microsurgery, head and neck reconstruction and breast reconstruction. There is a busy consult service in which the student is expected to actively participate. There are at least three clinic periods per week that will expose the student to a broad cross section of pre-op evaluation and post-op care. Because there are usually no residents on the service, the student will be able to participate more directly and will have more responsibilities in accordance with their level of ability. This includes an intense operative experience. There are weekly service rounds where he/she will be expected to prepare a formal presentation as well as at least 4 other informal presentations on topics designed to address areas of interest or deficiencies. 平特五不中 Inter-hospital Plastic Rounds are held every Wednesday and students are encouraged to attend and participate.
