Motivational Communication is a time-efficient, patient-centred communication style used to promote patient engagement and sustained health behaviour change. This听one-hour introductory听presentation will present the听11 core competencies听of Motivational Communication. Case examples will be used to highlight how this communication style can lead to more effective consultations,听improved therapeutic alliances听and听reduced frustration for both听patient and healthcare provider.

This seminar will be facilitated by听Dr.听Anda听Dragomir (PhD), a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral researcher at Concordia University. She has extensive knowledge of behavioural intervention methodology and has been involved in the听design and development of effective behaviour change interventions. Her area of expertise is training healthcare professionals in communication skills for improved patient self-management.听 听

Ms.听Brigitte Voisard听(presence to be confirmed), is a PhD candidate in clinical psychology at the Universit茅 du Qu茅bec 脿 Montr茅al. She is co-leading the development and testing of the Motivational Communication training curriculum.听
