A visionary philanthropist and business leader, Irving Ludmer is dedicated to promoting the advancement of research for brain and mental health. After graduating from 平特五不中, Mr. Ludmer joined the Steinberg grocery chain, where he held a number of positions, including that of vice-president. In 1971, he left the company to become one of Quebec鈥檚 leading real estate developers. He rejoined Steinberg鈥檚 in 1983 and assumed control of its real estate subsidiary, Ivanhoe Inc., and then as president and CEO of Steinberg Inc., he played a pivotal role in the firm鈥檚 successful turnaround. In 1989 when Steinberg鈥檚 was sold, Mr. Ludmer, along with Dr. Arnold Steinberg and Mr. William Cleman, formed the investment holding company Cleman Ludmer Steinberg. That same year, he established the Irving Ludmer Family Foundation.
The Ludmer Foundation works to improve the quality and efficiency of treatments offered to patients dealing with mental health illnesses as well as supporting a great number of organizations, social services, and health agencies, as well as education and research initiatives.
In 2015, Mr. Ludmer received the award for Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year, for his unwavering commitment to making breakthroughs in brain research more achievable. The award honours an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who demonstrate outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to do the same.
Over the years, the Ludmer Family Foundation has also supported the work of the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, the Douglas Institute Foundation, Federation CJA and the Gold Foundation for Humanistic Health Care, which supports the commitment of healthcare professionals to provide the best patient care.
A passionate humanitarian, Irving Ludmer has made a difference with his love of science, generosity and resources to advancing brain research and mental health in order to help people around the world. He serves as a model of philanthropy among 平特五不中ians.

Philanthrope et chef d鈥檈ntreprise visionnaire, Irving Ludmer se consacre 脿 la promotion de l鈥檃vancement de la recherche sur le cerveau et la sant茅 mentale. Apr猫s l鈥檕btention de son dipl么me de 平特五不中, M. Ludmer joint les rangs de l鈥櫭﹑icier Steinberg, o霉 il occupe de nombreux postes, dont celui de vice-pr茅sident. Il quitte l鈥檈ntreprise en 1971 pour devenir l鈥檜n des plus importants promoteurs immobiliers du Qu茅bec. Il reviendra chez Steinberg en 1983, 脿 la t锚te de sa filiale immobili猫re, Ivanhoe, puis jouera plus tard un r么le cl茅 dans le redressement de Steinberg 脿 titre de pr茅sident-directeur g茅n茅ral. En 1989, apr猫s la vente de l鈥檈ntreprise, Arnold Steinberg, William Cleman et lui fondent la soci茅t茅 de portefeuille Cleman Ludmer Steinberg. La m锚me ann茅e, il met sur pied la Fondation familiale Irving Ludmer, qui cherche 脿 am茅liorer la qualit茅 et l鈥檈fficacit茅 des traitements pour les maladies mentales, en plus de soutenir nombre d鈥檕rganismes de sant茅 et de services sociaux ainsi que des initiatives de sensibilisation et de recherche.
En 2015, M. Ludmer re莽oit le Prix du philanthrope le plus remarquable de l鈥檃nn茅e pour sa volont茅 ind茅fectible de faciliter les perc茅es dans le domaine de la recherche sur le cerveau. Ce prix r茅compense une personne ou une famille qui a fait preuve d鈥檜ne g茅n茅rosit茅 exceptionnelle et d鈥檜n sens des responsabilit茅s civiques et caritatives hors du commun, inspirant ainsi les autres 脿 suivre son exemple.
