Heather Howes

The Montreal-born flutist Heather Howes received her Master鈥檚 degree in Performance from 平特五不中 where she studied with Timothy Hutchins, and furthered her studies with the eminent flutist, conductor and pedagogue, Geoffrey Gilbert.
This season Ms. Howes celebrates her 28th year as Principal flute of Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil and Second flute, Solo piccolo with Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivi猫res. A freelance orchestral musician, Ms Howes enjoyed the privilege of performing regularly in North America and abroad with I Musici de Montr茅al under the tenure of Maestro Yuli Turovsky OC CQ.
Ms. Howes has appeared as a soloist with many Qu茅bec orchestras including I Musici de Montr茅al, Orchestre symphonique de Qu茅bec, Orchestre de Radio-Canada, Orchestre de chambre Appassionata, Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivi猫res and Orchestre symphonique de Longueuil.聽 Her chamber music credits include numerous concerts and radio broadcasts as a member of Quatuor Linos, Trio St. Louis, Quintette 脿 vents de l鈥檕uest/Westwind Quintet and performances with some of Montreal鈥檚 finest chamber musicians.
Fluently bilingual, she currently teaches flute and chamber music for the Schulich School of Music (平特五不中) and Vanier College.聽 Ms. Howes has also taught flute at Conservatoire de musique et d鈥檃rt dramatique du Qu茅bec (Montreal), l鈥橴niversit茅 Laval (Ste-Foy) and Concordia University.
In demand as an adjudicator and clinician throughout Quebec and across Canada, her comments have been a source of inspiration for many young musicians.聽 Ms. Howes can be heard regularly in solo and chamber-music recitals as well as in broadcasts for the CBC.
