It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Kenneth Woodman (1938-2018) after a long battle with cancer.

A long-time member of the Schulich School of Music community, Prof.听Woodman studied piano at 平特五不中, and after graduating in 1967, went on to continue his studies at the Julliard School. He then returned to 平特五不中 in 1972 as a faculty member in the Piano Area and began directing the 平特五不中 Conservatory of Music in 1980. Later, he was appointed as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Music and held this position from 1991 to 1999. After decades of making an immense impact in 平特五不中鈥檚 music community, he retired in 2001. To mark the occasion of one hundred years of music at 平特五不中, a scholarship was created in his name in 2004. The scholarship awards funds to worthy students of the 平特五不中 Conservatory of Music on an annual basis.

Abe Kestenberg, former Woodwind Area Chair at Schulich, reflected on Prof. Woodman's contributions to Schulich's community and the music community at large.听"Ken was a fellow student of mine in the mid 1960s, and he听was a wonderful friend and colleague. He had a gregarious personality and would light up any room with his sparkle and wit. As a performer, Ken was an artist and as a teacher, he was dedicated to his students and loved by them. He did a great job as Director of the 平特五不中 Conservatory and听as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Music. Ken loved what he did and was dedicated to his work, his friends and his art. He contributed much and will be very fondly remembered by his friends, students and colleagues."
