Brittany Rae wins first place at the Eckhardt-Gramatt茅 Competition

Congrats to聽soprano聽 (Grad Dip 鈥18) and聽pianist Jesse Plessis (Current DMus)聽for winning this year鈥檚聽.聽The duo performed works by Canadian composers聽Jocelyn Morlock, Gordon Fitzell, Ana Sokolovic, and Claude Vivier.聽聽

On her recent win Brittany wrote:聽

鈥淚 am ecstatic that Jesse and I have been awarded 1st place for the 43rd edition of the E-Gre虂 Competition! I feel so passionate about this competition and what it means for the representation of Canadian and contemporary music. I am so thankful to E-Gre虂 for providing such an important platform for young artists and for fearlessly embracing this new digital format to keep this opportunity alive! Jesse and I can't wait to further explore this format as we embark on the digital Winner鈥檚 National Tour! I would also like to extend a huge bravo and congratulations to my fellow finalists who offered such inspiring and exceptional performances!鈥澛

The聽Eckhardt-Gramatt茅聽National Music Competition for the performance of Canadian and contemporary music聽was created in聽memoriam of聽composer, pianist, and violinist S.C. (Sonia) Eckhardt-Gramatt茅, who spent the last twenty-one years of her life in Manitoba. It fulfills her lifelong dream of creating a means by which the music of contemporary composers could make its presence felt by young musicians on the threshold of their careers.聽The E-Gr茅聽National Music Competition聽has been held annually since 1976 at Brandon University.聽
