Celebrating Holi - the festival of colours

Holi is one of the biggest celebrations in the Hindu tradition, and today Hindus all around the world will be celebrating with an abundance of colours, water balloons, and flowers. Holi represents the victory of good over evil, and the divine love between Lord Krishna and Radha.听

Why all the colours? According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna had a darker complexion while Radna was more fair skinned, and this difference in skin colour made Krishna worried that Radha would not accept him. Following advice from his mother, Krishna playfully smeared gulal, the colourful powder now used during Holi celebrations, onto Radha's face to get rid of their differences in complexion.

During Holi, Hindus will also celebrate by seeking blessings from their elders, visiting friends and relatives, and enjoying Holi delicacies such as听gujiya, thandai, and more.
