Background
The current Request for Proposal (RFP) provides the details to apply for the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics & Mental Health (Ludmer) - 平特五不中 Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (MI4) Collaborative Seed Fund Grant (SFG) competition.
This grant will support a new health research project focusing on the role of infection, immunity and/or the microbiome in the development, prevention or treatment of mental health disorders.
The Ludmer-MI4 SFG aims to catalyze innovative and impactful research at 平特五不中 and its affiliated hospitals, by providing initial funding to help position a new project to become competitive for sustained external funding.
This opportunity provides one-time funding of up to $50,000 for a single 12-month project.

Scope
The Ludmer-MI4 SFG supports innovative approaches that will provide answers within a 12-month timeframe.
The research from the two co-principal investigators (Co-PIs) should focus on:
Eligibility
The Co-Principal Investigators must meet the conditions of University Researcher or Clinical University Researcher as defined by the Fonds de Recherche du Qu茅bec (). In accordance with 平特五不中 policies, a researcher devotes more than 50% of their time to research and teaching.
The Co-Principal Investigators must hold 平特五不中 appointments.
Team Composition
The Ludmer-MI4 SFG can be held at any 平特五不中 Department or 平特五不中-affiliated research institute. An investigator鈥檚 location is defined as the primary location where their research team is located.
The inclusion of other 平特五不中 community investigators as collaborators is encouraged, but only two Co-Principal Investigators are permitted.
One Principal Investigator must be a member of the Ludmer Centre for Neuroinformatics & Mental Health and the second Principal Investigator must have expertise in infection, immunity or microbiome research. Investigators external to the 平特五不中 community are welcome to join the project team as collaborators, but may not be Co- Principal Investigators.
Subcontracts to investigators outside 平特五不中 and its affiliated institutions are only permitted under exceptional, well-justified conditions, subject to Ludmer and MI4 approval.
Available Funds and Grant Term
One award is available up to a maximum of $50,000 in value. Funds will be disbursed in two payments of $25,000 to each Co-PI at the start of the project. The grant term is 12 months. The Ludmer-MI4 SFG award is non-renewable and unspent funds must be returned to the source from which the funds originated (either Ludmer or MI4) at the end of this period.

The deadline for submissions is December 8th, 2021 at 11:59 PM Eastern Standard Time.
