Curriculum
A student accepted to the five-year program will be required to register for a full year in the Faculty of Science. In that year, the student must take courses totalling 30 credits. Following the successful completion of this year, determined by a Student Promotions Committee, students will proceed into the first year of the four-year program. Students must obtain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 with all individual grades "B" or higher for required courses and passing grades for all complementary courses to be promoted into the first year of the MDCM Program.
Note: Students failing to meet these requirements will be able to transfer into a B.Sc. and may reapply to the MDCM Program following completion of the undergraduate degree. Please note that a grade of B in all courses would lead to a GPA of 3.0 and that a grade of B in required courses and grades below B in complementary courses would lead to a GPA below 3.0.

Biology (Sci): The physical and chemical properties of the cell and its components in relation to their structure and function. Topics include: protein structure, enzymes and enzyme kinetics; nucleic acid replication, transcription and translation; the genetic code, mutation, recombination, and regulation of gene expression.

Cell Biology & Metabolism

Biology (Sci): This course introduces the student to our modern understanding of cells and how they work. Major topics to be covered include: photosynthesis, energy metabolism and metabolic integration; plasma membrane including secretion, endocytosis and contact mediated interactions between cells; cytoskeleton including cell and organelle movement; the nervous system; hormone signaling; the cell cycle.

Principles of Statistics 1

Mathematics & Statistics (Sci): Examples of statistical data and the use of graphical means to summarize the data. Basic distributions arising in the natural and behavioural sciences. The logical meaning of a test of significance and a confidence interval. Tests of significance and confidence intervals in the one and two sample setting (means, variances and proportions).

Courses offered by l'UQO
The mathematics course (equivalent to 平特五不中 MATH 203 Principles of Statistics) is obligatory for students who have not taken an equivalent course in CEGEP. The students will take this course with other UQO students, or they can be part of a single group that will be composed solely of the students of the Med-P Qualifying Year(Outaouais). For students who have taken an equivalent STA1003聽course in CEGEP, they should consult with their advisor as soon as possible to have their choice replacement course approved.

Students must also choose among four complementary/elective courses available in the departments and faculties of l鈥橴QO.
B - COMPLEMENTARY - ARTS (6 credits): MONTREAL and UQO
Montreal: You are required to register in 6 credits of courses offered in the Faculty of Arts. Any credits surpassing 6 credits will be counted as elective credits. Arts courses need to be at the 200-level or higher.
UQO: For Campus Outaouais, the 12 credits of courses, can be selected from any of UQO鈥檚 course offerings.
C - ELECTIVE (6 credits): MONTREAL and UQO
Montreal: You may choose from any available course in the Faculty of Science or the Faculty of Arts. Of these, only a maximum of 3 credits can be at the 100-level. You have the option to choose the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) grading system for a maximum of 3 credits of electives only.
UQO: For Campus Outaouais, the 12 credits of courses, can be selected from any of UQO鈥檚 course offerings.
