Ph.D. Program
Doctoral students in mechanical engineering work closely with a faculty member on a research-intensive project. There is no formal course requirement in the Ph.D. program, although students are generally encouraged to take advantage of the various graduate level courses offered across campus. Within their first year of studies, Ph.D. students must demonstrate their ability to conduct a thorough and relevant literature review and to present a clear and relevant research plan at the preliminary examination. The degree is completed with a Ph.D. thesis and defense, which is expected to advance knowledge in their chosen fields of research.
Applicants to the Ph.D. program must have successfully completed a Master's degree program, or the equivalent, in Engineering or the Physical Sciences, with a minimum CGPA equivalent to 3.3 on a scale of 4.0. Satisfaction of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Students are not admitted directly from an undergraduate program. Applicants to the Ph.D. program may specify, in their application, their preferred area(s) of research and/or preferred supervisor(s).
Master of Science
This is a Thesis based research program which is carried out under the mentorship of a faculty member. The program is balanced between research and courses. Completion requires a minimum of 45 credits to be distributed as follows: 28 credits of thesis work, a set of one-semester courses with a combined weight of no less than 16 credits, and a one-credit seminar. The M.Sc. program is a full-time program. A master thesis and a master research project presentation conclude the degree, which takes a maximum of 3 years.
Applicants to the M.Sc. program must hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a degree in Physical, Math or Computer Sciences, with a minimum CGPA equivalent to 3.3 on a scale of 4.0. Satisfaction of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Applicants to the M.Sc.听program may specify, in their application, their preferred area(s) of research and/or preferred supervisor(s).听
Master of Engineering
This is a Non-Thesis program which is a course-intensive degree which provides advanced engineering education in a broad range of areas in mechanical engineering. The program requires a minimum of 45 credits to be distributed as follows: a design project of 12 credits, a one-credit seminar and nine courses with a combined weight of at least 32 credits, which must include four required core courses: Applied Maths, Fundamentals of Fluid Dynamics, Advanced Mechanics of Materials and Advanced Dynamics. The length of study for full-time students is approximately eighteen (18) months. While intended to be a full-time program, the M.Eng. may be completed on a part-time basis. The time limit to complete the program is a maximum of 3 years in a full time basis or 5 years in a part time basis.
This program must hold an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum CGPA equivalent to 3.3 on a scale of 4.0. Satisfaction of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
Master of Aerospace Engineering
M.Eng. Aero is a course program requiring a minimum of 45 credits, including an "Industrial Stage" (engineering work in an aerospace industry) of four months. The aerospace industry is strongly established in Quebec. This program provides a vigorous training in the general area of aerospace engineering, with three possible specializations: (i) Aeronautics and Space Engineering; (ii) Structures and Materials; and (iii) Avionics and Control. This degree is given in conjunction with Concordia University, 脡cole Polytechnique, Universit茅 Laval and Universit茅 de Sherbrooke. Students registered at 平特五不中 are required to take two courses from two other institutions. The length of study for full-time students is approximately eighteen (18) months for any of the Master's degree options. The time limit to complete the M.Eng. Aero program is a maximum of 3 years in a full time basis or 5 years in a part time basis.
Applicants to the M.Eng. Aero program must hold an undergraduate engineering degree (or equivalent) with a minimum CGPA equivalent to 3.3 on a scale of 4.0. In addition, applicants should be fluent in French at the time of application, to allow them to undertake their Industrial Stage. Satisfaction of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
