The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ is open to talented leaders and changemakers at the graduate (master’s) level, from across Sub-Sharan Africa who aspire to improve and transform nutrition, public health, public policy, and sustainable agriculture sectors across Africa.ÌýÌýÌý

How to Apply

  1. Determine your eligibility.
  2. Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application Form*.
  3. Once your application is pre-screened, provide additional documentation as requested by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program team.Ìý
  4. Successful pre-screened applicants will be invited to apply to ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.ÌýÌýSuccessful applicants will receive a fee waiver and detailed instructions on how to apply for admission to ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.Ìý

*You must apply to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program first.Ìý Only once you have been successfully pre-screened will you be invited to apply to your chosen program of study through the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ admissions process.

The Program will not accept applications submitted outside the set application process.ÌýÌýÌý

Applications close. All applicants must have completed the first stage of the application and eligibility assessment. Applications will not be accepted beyond this date.Ìý
October 28 – *December 6, 2024Ìý Only successful pre-screened applicants will be invited to move on to the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ application for admission stage. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified. *Please note that due to the number of applications received the applicant notification window has been moved to December 6, 2024
December 1, 2024Ìý Application deadline for programs in Public Health and Biostatics.Ìý
January 15, 2025Ìý Application deadline for all other programs.Ìý
Early to mid-February 2025Ìý Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of their admission decision to ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.ÌýÌý
Mid-February – mid March 2025Ìý The ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Committee will select scholarship recipients.Ìý
Mid-March – early April 2025Ìý Successful and unsuccessful scholarship applicants will be notified.Ìý
April – August 2025Ìý Support is provided by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program team through the immigration processes.Ìý

Selection Process

The selection process for applications is based on the following criteria:Ìý

  • Academic merit of the candidate that qualifies for admission to ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.Ìý
  • Track record as a transformative leader and person of service within their community.Ìý
  • Quality of application in line with the Mastercard Foundation ethos and values of the ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ Mastercard Foundation Scholars ProgramÌýat ƽÌØÎå²»ÖÐ.Ìý
  • Potential impact on the development of the applicant’s home country.Ìý
  • Applicants who have faced significant barriers to education (social, financial, personal, practical or health related).Ìý
