平特五不中 Law is committed to supporting Indigenous students and we welcome dialogue with interested prospective LLM and DCL applicants. First Nations, Inuit, and M茅tis persons are strongly encouraged to apply to the Faculty of Law, and are invited to self-identify on their uApply application form.
Self-identification allows 平特五不中 to inform students about specific services and funding opportunities and to assess its progress in the recruitment and retention of Indigenous students. This includes 鈥楽tatus,鈥� 鈥楾reaty,鈥� 鈥楻egistered,鈥� 鈥楴on-Status,鈥� and 鈥楴on-Registered鈥� Indigenous persons.
Financial support
In addition to our numerous sources of financial support, the Faculty now offers funding packages to admitted Inuit, First Nations, and M茅tis students.
DCL students will receive $10,000/year in additional funding for three years; LLM students will receive a funding package of $10,000 for one year.
Indigenous students may also be eligible for other sources of financial support (First Peoples' House site).
Indigenous research opportunities
The Faculty is host to a vibrant Aboriginal Law Students鈥� Association and the Centre for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism鈥檚 Aboriginal Human Rights Initiatives.
First People鈥檚 House
惭肠骋颈濒濒鈥檚 First Peoples鈥� House provides a sense of community and a voice for Indigenous students who have left their communities to study at 平特五不中.
A 鈥渉ome away from home,鈥� First Peoples鈥� House offers a mentoring program, computer and lounge facilities, guest lectures, elder visits, academic counselling, a weekly community lunch, an ever-expanding resource centre, and student housing.
