Deferral of a Final Examination Request Form

FOR SPANNED 1L/2L COURSES AND GRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY!

Your attention is drawn to Faculty Regulations 45鈥47, which can see read in the Faculty's Handbook of Academic Regulations, Resolutions and Policies.

Note that there cannot be a deferred or supplemental evaluation of an already deferred examination.

BCL/JD Students wishing to apply for a deferred exam must submit their request via the Minerva Deferred Exam module. (Minerva->Student Menu->Deferred Exam Application). Requests must be made as soon as possible and prior to deadlines or examinations (Fall & Winter terms). The Minerva form is not available for聽Fall term Deferral requests for 1L students, students taking Property in the Fall 2024 term, and all Graduate Law students (LLM, DCL, Graduate Certificate); please complete the form below.

Graduate (LLM) Students must inform the gradadmissions.law [at] mcgill.ca (GPO by email), prior to or within twenty-four (24) hours of the examination, of the reasons for requesting permission to write a deferred examination. You should be aware that requests to defer an exam will only be approved for compelling reasons, verified and accepted by the Student Affairs Office. You must provide supporting evidence such as an appropriate medical report, and a representative from the Student Affairs Office may reach out for further details if needed.

For more information consult聽Exams | Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies - 平特五不中

For requests due to medical reasons, a deferral is granted only if the nature of the illness is serious enough to justify absence from the examination. The date of the missed exam and the nature of the illness must be clearly indicated on the medical certificate. Medical certificates stating 鈥渕edical reasons鈥 and illegible documents will not be accepted. (Must demonstrate significant impact on the student鈥檚 performance).
