Scholarships and awards for BCL/JD students
The Faculty's Prizes and Scholarships Committee awards scholarships and prizes to outstanding students in upper years. There are also travelling fellowships available to 平特五不中 Law BCL/LLB and BCL/JD alumni pursuing graduate studies at other law schools, or for professional training. Many BCL/JD students receive a scholarship or prize carrying financial remuneration at some time during their studies. Finally, BCL/JD students wishing to present their research at a conference can apply for a travel grant. Close to 100 faculty awards are available through:
- Entrance scholarships for those with strong academic standing and/or demonstrated financial need. All accepted candidates are automatically considered for Faculty of Law entrance scholarships: there is no need to apply. See the Faculty of Law's BCL/JD Studies page on Tuition and Financial Support. CEGEP students applying to the Faculty of Law are strongly encouraged to apply for University Entrance Scholarships.
- Prizes, awards, and bursaries for students achieving academic excellence and making contributions to the life of the Faculty. See Faculty prizes and scholarships for BCL/JD students. Some of the prizes have a discretionary component and candidates must be nominated.

Need-based funding for Enriched Educational Opportunities
Enriched Educational Opportunities (EEOs) are high quality mobility or work experience opportunities that take place outside of the classroom and are officially recognized by the Faculty. The University has provided the Scholarships and Student Aid Office with special funding to pilot a need-based EEO Bursary Program.听 Bursaries are non-repayable forms of financial assistance based on demonstrated financial need.
If you are a full-time undergraduate already receiving need-based aid from a government student financial assistance program and/or 平特五不中鈥檚 Bursary & Loan Program, you may qualify for a bursary to help defray the additional costs associated with these extra opportunities. For more information, eligibility requirements and how to apply, please visit the Scholarships & Student Aid website.听
In the context of Law, the Faculty will provide supporting documentation as well as ensure recognition on transcript or co-curricular record for the following EEO opportunities:
- Unpaid Internships
- Major Internships
- Legal Clinic Course
- Student Clerkships
- International Human Rights Internships
- Independent Human Rights Internships
Request a letter from the SAO:
Please complete the Request for Attestation Letter form to request a letter for advance written approval (including any pledged funding) of a potential opportunity. Students should include their offer letter for the opportunity they wish to receive funding for when completing the form. If you have further questions about recording your successfully completed opportunity on your transcript or co-curricular record, please contact the SAO via cle.law [at] mcgill.ca.
Students should ensure to request the letter from the SAO as far in advance as possible to avoid delay.听
Written report - after the opportunity has been completed:
Students who receive EEO funding will be required to send the SAO a confirmation of the successful completion of their experience by the following deadlines:
- September 1: For opportunities that will take place between May 15 and August 31
