John Bradbury Award in Geography

Established in memory of John Bradbury, remembered as one who inspired students and colleagues alike with his enthusiasm for understanding the world, and his commitment to improving the working conditions of ordinary people.

Eligibility Awarded annually by the Department of Geography to a Master's student in Geography, alternately from 平特五不中 (even-numbered years) and Simon Fraser (odd-numbered years), whose thesis topic is related to John Bradbury's research interest in the economic geography of Canadian resource towns and international development, especially economic and social problems of resource town planning, economic restructuring, housing, class conflict and gender and work.

Professor Emeritus Ben Garnier Fellowship

Established in 2016 by Vanna Garnier to honour the memory of her late husband, Professor Emeritus Benjamin J. Garnier, who served as a Professor of Geography at 平特五不中 from 1965 to 1982, and was the Department's Chair from 1974 to 1980. His dedication to the study of climatology and his leadership of the Department of Geography inspired students and colleagues. The Fellowship is to support outstanding PhD students in the Department whose thesis topic reflects the interests of Professor Garnier in the relationship between humans and the climate system and the physical environment.

Eligibility Awarded by the Faculty of Science upon recommendation of the Department of Geography on the basis of academic merit.
