Key Academic Dates
The Key Academic Dates found below are those approved by Senate in May 2019.
- Classes begin: Tuesday, September 3 (except for Dentistry and Medicine students – please see faculty schedules)
- Classes end: Tuesday, December 31
- Study Day: Wednesday, December 4
- Exams begin: Thursday, December 5
- Exams end: Friday, December 20 (12 days, including evening exams)
1 On Tuesday, December 3, the normal Tuesday schedule of course lectures, labs and conferences will be replaced by a Monday schedule. To assist you in determining which courses will be taught on that day, please consult the table below.

Related Important Dates
Related Important Dates are built around the Key Academic Dates and are major events that occur each academic term. These include:
- Deadline to register for at least one course in order to avoid registration penalties: Wednesday, August 14
- Deadline to cancel registration: Saturday, August 31
- Add/Drop deadline: Tuesday, September 17
- Course or University Withdrawal with refund deadline: Tuesday, September 24
- Course or University Withdrawal with NO REFUND deadline: Tuesday, October 29

The schedule patterns in this table follow the same convention as course listings in Minerva Class Schedule. Each pattern indicates the days on which a course is normally held – for example, a course with a MWF pattern is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Administrative offices are closed on the following dates:
- Labour Day: Monday, September 2
- Thanksgiving: Monday, October 14
- Holiday break: Wednesday, December 25, 2019 to Thursday, January 2, 2020 inclusive

- Study break: from March 2-6 (some exceptions apply)
- Classes end: Tuesday, April 143
- Study Days: Wednesday, April 15 & Thursday, April 16
- Exams begin: Friday, April 17
- Exams end: Thursday, April 30 (10 days, including evening exams)
