Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Indigenous Peoples

In collaboration with First Nations and M茅tis partners, TELUS Health has developed story-based mental health programs rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These programs are designed to be culturally safe and responsive, integrating Indigenous knowledge with CBT techniques to guide individuals on their unique journeys to well-being.

CBT is one of the most effective forms of therapy, helping individuals understand, recognize, and change their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to foster improved mental health. Throughout the program, you'll engage in activities and exercises that inspire meaningful shifts in your mindset, all while receiving ongoing support from a dedicated therapist.

Here鈥檚 a glimpse into the user experience when starting the internet-based CBT program:

  1. After you sign up, the first step is an assessment of your needs: you complete an online questionnaire and connect with a professional therapist by phone, video or messaging.
  2. You then move through structured modules, at your own pace, while your therapist monitors your progress: each module contains activities, videos and assignments to help you learn, develop and practice new skills.
  3. There are scheduled check-ins along the way: you connect with your therapist by phone, video or messaging.

Two specialized programs are accessible to Indigenous faculty and staff. Click on the titles for an overview of the program:
