The neuroscience of persuasion and effective public speaking
听
Do you get nervous before giving a speech? Want to feel more confident while presenting? Or, just want to make your presentations more interesting, rather than reading from your slides?
In this workshop, Psychiatry PhD candidate听Jay Olson听will cover the communication skills necessary to give an effective presentation. Part of the workshop will be practical: handling nervousness, enhancing clarity, improving body language, and holding the audience鈥檚 attention. The other part will be academic, including cognitive biases that moderate persuasion, neural correlates of behaviour and attitude change, and how the allure of neuroscience can make speakers appear more credible. The workshop will focus on the psychological and neural mechanisms that allow speakers to engage and persuade their audiences.
Refreshments will be provided.
