We prepare students to make a difference by engaging them in critical global discourse and research, enabling international clinical experiences, and facilitating training at 平特五不中 and beyond.

  • The Pre-Departure Workshop (PDWS) is a 4-hour training session offered to medical students twice a year in the Fall and Winter semesters. It is a mandatory requirement for those students doing clinical rotations outside of North America. It can be made available to residents, pending availability of spots.聽

  • The FMed Global Health Group
    • This faculty and student committee aims to spark global health research initiatives through critical discourse and collaboration, and an invited speakers series.
  • Global health training opportunities
    • Many opportunities for global health study and research are available for 平特五不中 trainees through Global Health Programs. In addition, the Department also has long standing collaborations with聽聽Santa Marcalina and the聽Brac James P. Grant School of Public Health ().听聽is a聽leader in graduate education and training in the South Asian region, with depth expertise in the areas of sexual and reproductive health research, implementation sciences, urban health, nutrition and NCDs and universal health coverage.
  • The Interprofessional Global Health Course
    • Taught by FMed and other 平特五不中 faculty, the Interprofessional Global Health course exposes students to the foundations and geopolitics of global health, and the realities and challenges facing health professionals in global and local health contexts. It is open to 平特五不中 students studying dentistry, medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, dietetics and human nutrition, and students from other academic backgrounds with a strong interest in global health.
  • 平特五不中 Global Health Programs
    • Global Health Programs draws on the expertise and resources of 平特五不中鈥檚 leading faculty and researchers and a strategic network of Canadian and international partners. It offers high-quality education and training in global health, enhances capacity and supports advocacy in resource-limited settings, and facilitates innovative, interdisciplinary, collaborative, and policy-relevant research to address critical global health challenges and priorities.
    • In January, Family Medicine鈥檚 Global Health Program launched a series of monthly workshops and invited speakers around the theme of Global Primary Care Delivery in collaboration with the School of Population and Global Health. Click here to access the recordings and PowerPoints.聽
