Putting EDI in Practice: Developing Your EDI Plans for Research Teams

This intermediate-level workshop is for faculty PIs who would like help drafting an outline of their EDI plan for their research teams. It discusses key questions and gives examples of EDI practices based on previous grant applications that cover three common areas addressed in Tri-Agency grant applications:

  1. Team composition,
  2. HQP training and
  3. Creating an inclusive team environment.

This workshop will be most beneficial for those who have thought about EDI principles and issues in their disciplines / fields and are looking to apply their reflections into concrete practices. Participants are asked to come prepared to write, to participate in discussion and to work collaboratively with their colleagues in this workshop, as they will write and discuss a draft outline of EDI practices they can put in place in their research teams and contexts.

There is a limit of 20 participants in the session.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify useful EDI practices in their research projects and grant proposals
  • Have a draft outline of their EDI plans for further polishing and revision
