Abstract

The objective of the consultations in the Mali System Dynamics project with stakeholders and experts in climate change, mental health, and violent conflict was to elicit system factors for each of those domains, as well as their causes and consequences. This project adopts a system dynamics approach, adapted from systems thinking theory, to product a holistic and computational model of each of the primary domains, while ensuring buy-in from global experts and, more importantly, local community leaders in Mali.聽

The project is still in its early stages. As such, the consultations and scoping review have not been completed. Next stages in the project include in-depth interviews with local community leaders and experts and a series of model building workshops.聽

My main contribution to this project revolved around interviewing global experts in the domains of climate science, social and behavioural intervention, migration and displacement, disaster mental health, and conflict and mental health. Interviews were followed by transcription and synthesis of the data. I also contributed to other tasks in the project, including the scoping review and the creation of SOPs, guides, and scripts for other phases in the project, such as the model building workshops.
