Aerospace
Design Society (AERO)

The 平特五不中 Aerospace Design Society (AERO) is a shared platform for all aerospace engineering design teams at 平特五不中. We provide the organizational frameworks, mentoring, and tools, as well as 100% of the funding for design teams that we accept in our society. With the 平特五不中 Aerospace Design Society, students interested in starting a new project can skip the process of starting and promoting a team, acquiring initial funding, gaining official status at 平特五不中, and finding resources for design, manufacturing, and testing. This shortcut gives design teams more time designing their actual projects.

Our members are divided into four different teams. We have three competitional design teams which are the Micro and Advanced teams competing in the SAE Aero East Design Series, as well as the Unmanned Aerial System Team competing in the Unmanned Systems Canada competition. Furthermore, our Solar Drone Team is a non-competition design team developing a solar-powered aircraft.

At AERO 平特五不中, we encourage the development of professional and engineering skills that match industry standards to cultivate a learning experience that extends beyond the reach of any classroom.

平特五不中 Bridge Building Team is a group of undergraduate students at 平特五不中 who design, build and compete in wood and steel bridge competitions.

Chem-E

The 平特五不中 Chem-E Car Design Team was founded in 2013. Since then, the team has substantially grown from 13 to 81 active members from varying academic disciplines. Team members put their innovative ideas and engineering skills together to produce a car completely powered and stopped by chemical reactions. Our design team incorporates aspects of electrical, mechanical, software, computer, material and chemical engineering. Every year, we design, develop and build a new car to compete with teams from universities from around the world at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) Chem-E Car competition.

Our team competed in the Northeast Regional competition at MIT and Northeastern University in March 2015 and placed second overall, qualifying for the National Competition in Salt Lake City. On November 2015, we placed 1st among 36 universities from around the world to claim the 2015-2016 World Championship title.

Concrete

平特五不中 Concrete Canoe is made up of more than 60 undergraduate students who annually design and build a canoe out of concrete to compete against dozens of schools both nationally and internationally.听The idea sounds crazy, but that is exactly what makes it a challenging and exciting project to work on. The catch? It must float completely submerged below the surface of the water.听Solving the problem involves creating a unique concrete mix that is both light and strong, designing the hull of the canoe using structural analysis methods, constructing the canoe precisely to design specifications, and ultimately racing the canoe.

Supported by one of the best schools in Canada, the team has aggressively climbed the standings in only a few years of existence, highlighted by Participant鈥檚 Choice Award at the 2015 Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition, with no sign of slowing down. Our members are passionate and innovative 鈥 we never stop raising the bar.

平特五不中 Formula Electric is听 made up of over 50 motivated students听 who design, build and race a 100% electric formula car.听This is an extracurricular project and students do not receive credit for participating. Pure passion for learning, engineering and innovation drives each team member to dedicate countless hours of hard work to building the best electric vehicles.听

Our team maintains a tradition of excellence and we are proud to say we have placed among the top 4 teams in North America for the past 3 years. This follows a long history of competing with a hybrid race-car and an electric snowmobile. As one of the first teams in north America听 to develop electric vehicles, the team has a strong base of knowledge from which to build, and a history of success to live up to.锘刻

The 平特五不中 Racing Team is a group of undergraduate engineering students at 平特五不中. Every year, we design, develop, build and race a new formula-style racing car to participate in the several Formula SAE competitions: FSAE Michigan, Formula North, Toronto FSAE Shootout, and Formula Student Germany. These extremely competitive events include over 200 colleges and universities from around the world, exchanging ideas, creations, and concepts. This past competition season was one of the best for the team, with 2nd place design at Formula North and 6th place in design at Formula Student Germany. We were also the fastest accelerating car running a single cylinder engine this year in Germany!

The 平特五不中 Racing Team is a great way to apply what you learn in class as well as learn things you would never see in a classroom setting.

Rocket
Team

平特五不中 Rocket Team is composed of听130听talented students from various majors, who are putting enormous efforts to best represent 平特五不中 at Rocket Engineering Competitions.

From software engineering to physics to economics, members of the 平特五不中 Rocket Team hail from 16听kinds of disciplines representing representing the faculties of Engineering, Arts, Sciences, Arts&Sciences, and Management. 听

Our members are divided into 7 different sub-teams which include Aerodynamics, Structures, Payload, Propulsion, Avionics, Business, and Multimedia.

A basic model and an advanced model are both expected to compete in the IREC competition of 2017.

Robotics

平特五不中 Robotics is an engineering design team that builds robots for international competitions as well as organizes RoboHacks annually. The team鈥檚 goal is to foster an interest in robotics through competition, cultivate a relationship with the surrounding Montreal community, and much closer to home, to create a core community at 平特五不中 via the 鈥淭eam Before Machine鈥 philosophy.

We prioritize team bonding and growth along with engineering accomplishment, with the belief that it takes a solid team to build a winning robot. This year, the team is composed of 200 students and is developing for three main technical projects. On top of our Mars Rover Project, which is working on a tele-operated rover for competition in both the University Rover Challenge and the European Rover Challenge, the team鈥檚 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Project will be undergoing a massive re-design for the RoboSub competition in California.

Additionally, the team鈥檚 newest project, Drone, is developing an autonomous fixed-wing aerial vehicle to enter its first-ever competition this year at SUAS in Maryland! Finally, our dedicated Business Committees manage the substantial organizational effort. On top of day-to-day operations, Business takes care of critical strategizing for maximizing the organization鈥檚 success, value, brand impact, and morale.
